Usually not a fan of proprietary lugs especially but maybe with the ingenious clasp you don't ever need to change.

Great written and video review, Don. I just bought the blue Aquis on the strap based on your commentary. Thanks.

Great photography and review of a tough brand. My Oris has seen plenty of ocean over the years:

Hi Don

PS. attached only the image at ISO 400. After 10 seconds in sun blue colours is very evident (first pics). Obviously, if the watch was not held sufficient time "outdoor" (I suppose under UV light), in the night the colour cannot be clear distinguished as "blue". Eventually as very pale blue (see second pics ISO 400 shot this night in bedroom). On the second pics the dot on the bezel and the little hand could be recognized as blue, however only on the pics, my eyes couldn’t! This is the origin of my first report. Having said this, it is no problem (in fully darkness) to identify the hours and hands.

Thanks again. Best regards, Mirela

Hi Don

Yes, you are right, it is blue! I have to explain however how this issue occurred: I purchased the watch on Saturday and put it in operation on the same day at evening. At Saturday and Sunday, I stay in my flat, because bad weather. The watch was on my hand. Saturday night I check the lume: as said the colour was "white" or eventually "green washed out". The same on Sunday night. Today, after I wrote the issue in "Watchfreeks", I put the watch in sunlight and, as I already mentioned, the lume was now blue! Yet, some hours after, I put the watch under my lamp on my desk, and I checked the lume: also blue, not so strong as under sun. I have no explanation, indeed the lume is blue! However I am sure it was not in the two passed nights! Perhaps, the lume was not charged under UV light and now, after exposition under sunlight, the lume "started" to light correctly.... Or perhaps if the charge level is low (was the case) the lume glows blue but very faint giving perception of “white”? I cannot explain. And it is clear that in regular light, it's not going to really glow. This was not the point.

I am sorry. Thanks a lot. Best regards, Mirela

Hi Don

I am sorry. In the men time I checked again the lume. If the watch is exposed to the sun, then indeed the lume is BLUE! However, if the watch is exposed normally to the ambient light, I mean artificial light as used in rooms or office, the Oris lume is White (variety of white) but no blue! I already have a shot with blue lume, shot 10 minutes before, after I exposed the watch ca. 20 seconds in sun. I try to shot a picture this evening; the watch will be exposed only in room.

Best regards, Mirela
I'm really not sure what you are saying.

The lume is blue. In regular light , it's not going to really glow, only in the dark. If in dark and not glowing , it's just that the lume is not charged.

Hi Dom

Just an observation. I have also an Oris Aquis as yours. But, the lume on my Oris Aquis, even if it is Superluminova BG-W9, however it does not glows in a blue colour. Strange. Do you have an idea?

Thanks, Mirela
Can you post a pic of your watch?

I have always wanted an Oris diver, but the lug design kept me from actually buying one.

Great review
I as actually going to get one of these today
But ended up going with the pro diver date.
I was afraid that this one would wear a little small.

Hey guys, I want to buy the Oris Maldives Limited Edition. Does anyone know about the watch? It is 1283.00 on the Titanium bracelet which is much cheaper than the 2800.00 list price.

Thank you for the advice!

Certainly a first rate piece and an excellent review. I would prefer a bracelet to the rubber. Other than that, it is certainly a watch I would consider for my collection.

Will a rubber TT1 strap fit this new case ?

To be honest, not sure, but I see they sell a rubber for the TT1 and one for the Aquis, so am going to guess no.

Nice review Don and thanks for the additional video. Makes it much easier to get a good view of the watch. Great pictures also.
