Picture Seiko 7002-7009
The 7002 line of divers replaced the 6309 in 1988 and thru 1996. It was replaced by the SKX line of divers in 1996. The 7002s uses a different movement from prior 6000 series based models used in earlier divers. The 7002s (especially the second generation) introduced many design changes to Seiko divers that are with us to this day.

Picture Bulova Oceanographer Snorkel 666ft Date only
1970 ( NO )
Variant " G "
60 click uni directional bezel
Movement: 11BLACD
Case Ref#: 714 (Tonneau)
Hall Mark: CB (Centrale Boites S.A.) SWISS
Crystal ref#: 714AWD
Lugs: 18mm
Diameter: 41mm minus crown

Introduced in 1960/61 as the " BULOVA SNORKEL " 1968 a new case was introduced which was designed in Germany and made in Switzerland by Centrale Boîtes S.A. (CB hallmark) this company also manufactured the case for the original OMEGA Speedmaster moon watch . The Dial with red cross hair and self contained tritium pips was designed and manufactured by " SINGER " the very same company who at the time designed the premium line of ROLEX dials.

The IN HOUSE movement 11BLACD is a 17 jewel unadjusted non-hacking with rhodium-plated Swiss bridge movement, Rubin anchor escapement, compensation balance with Nivarox spiral steel cadratures, polished and bevelled, Automatic and perpetual Manual wind (bully alloy spring and barrel assembly with BRASS center wheel pivots).

The Curved form fitting case design was well thought out for a dive timer. It made it very comfortable over the wet suit, the crown was protected by the sloping case sides to prevent any error [crown movement] and from water infiltration during underwater activities, the same case design principle is utilized by another PROFESSIONAL DIVERS watch made by DOXA. The bezel design was ahead of its time, when most of the dive watches had a friction mounted bezel the snorkel had a 60 click count bezel. The now famous nick name " DEVIL DIVER " was coined by American G.I.'s in Vietnam for the " CARAVELLE Seahunter " and for the " BULOVA Selfwinding Waterproof 666 " ... but eventually the name ' DEVIL DIVER ' found a home with the Snorkel and the later Oceanographer Snorkel as well.

Picture Bulova Accutron Astronaut GMT
1966 ( M6)
Movement: 214HN hacking
Hacking Spring Ref#194
Accuracy: +/- 2 seconds per day
Lugs: 18mm
Diameter: 39mm
paired with JB Champion " BULLET " SS bracelet
The Accutron Astronaut was used by the NASA Mercury 7 Astronauts along with their Omega Speedmaster [yes they wore 2 wrist watches] on all their EARTH Orbital missions, the Astronaut was also worn by test pilots on the X-15 missions, A-12 (predessecor to the SR-71), was very popular amongst Vietnam era fighter pilots along with another iconic wrist watch of the era the Glycine Airman GMT.

Though the Accutron can not claim to have been worn on the wrist of an Astronaut while walking on the lunar surface on the Appolo missions, It can claim the fact that it has gone to space, landed on the lunar surface, was used on lunar missions and IS THE ONLY WATCH THAT WENT and was LEFT ON THE MOON . All timing devices aboard both the LUNAR orbiter and LUNAR lander had accutron movements. Apollo 16 used and left a Lunar Surface Experiments Package (ALSEP) on April 21, 1972 for Passive Seismic Experiment (PSE). In Dec 1972 Apollo 17 landed on the LUNAR surface and collected additional data from the piece of equipment, the Accutron watch housed in the piece of equipment was still functioning and keeping perfect time. Unfortunately Apollo 17 was the last LUNAR mission, the Seismic equipment with the Accutron watch is still there on the lunar surface to this day.
