Default Perpetual calendar

I have decide on purchasing a perpetual CALENDAR(preowned or grey market) and I am deciding between 3940/5140 or 5059/5159 in either rose gold or platinum. I simply can't justify spending far greater amount on a brand new piece. I would like input from those experienced in purchasing a used watch from Ebay, or one of dealers that appear on the Chrono24 site. What are the pitfalls and how may one best mitigate risks in purchasing from such sources?

IMO, if I was going to commit to such a serious purchase on a PP, then I would be wanting to buy from a reputable dealer from my country. Otherwise consider travelling for the right piece.

I have purchased off Chrono24 in the past, but that was only dropping $2k and it went without a hitch. However, I attempted another purchase with another vendor on Chrono24 who just stopped communicating with me. I reported the fact, but it does not show up in their status. So I am concerned that any negative feedback is not being communicated to the buyers who utilize chrono24, which gives obvious concern.

Quick check of chrono24 shows the cheapest PP 3940 in SAR, but a lot in the US. If you are American then I would consider visiting a few of the sellers and seeing the pieces in the skin and evaluate the vendor personally. You can easily contact the vendor initially through chrono24 and request an appointment to view.

IMO, worth spending that little bit extra for piece of mind.

I would not purchase a watch of that magnitude online. I would have to inspect it in person and be 100% confident its the real deal.
