Just replaced the battery in my 2010 Tag Heuer F1 Grand Date watch. The chrono works fine. The stop watch ,second hand and smaller hands works fine when you push the top or bottom button but the hour hands do not move (keep time).I can pull the crown out and set the date and the hour hands but when the crown is pushed back in,the the hour hands never move.Is the battery weak? Watch worked fine until the battery died. Now only half the watch works.I have replaced many batteries in all my Tags,Omegas,Sinn, ect and never had this happen.Has anyone heard of this problem or have any ideas?

i did a battery for a co-worker a couple weeks back and was astounded to see in the instructions i pulled down off the interwebz that after replacing the battery 2 points on the mov't needed to be "shorted" (i used some very sharp-pointed tweezers)

it's possible that a similar method needs to be employed to reset everything

This is what I don't get... You have a $1000 watch and you don't want to go to a watchmaker or jeweler to change the battery...You're going to crackit open and hope that it all works out, and that when you seal it, if there's a gasket there that it's in goodshape, it will continue to be water-tight. Then makesure nothing falls out or falls in or whatever justto save a few bucks. I understand some places will want to do the whole service thing but you can shop around. You should be able to find one that can do this simple service for you for $20 or less. JMHO!:whatever:

Point well said.

I deal exclusively with one independent jeweler for new watches. I have also purchased from their used selection.

I have NEVER paid for a battery change or bracelet resizing for any watch - whether purchased at their store or not.

You might say that I had to buy several watches to get this service and paid way to much to get them. WRONG!

Decent people treating their customer well is what its about. It costs them a few bucks to do a battery change and nothing to size a bracelet. Its a small cost to keep their customers happy.
