Default New TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf Special Edition 2017

You guys may have already seen this one. Just in case though, have a little info for you.

TAG Heuer's new Monaco Gulf Special Edition 2017 is a special edition version of the model worn by Steve McQueen, and helps celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Gulf Racing. Looks like the watch has a 39mm x 39mm stainless steel case with lefty crown, and angled pushers, 100M WR, beveled domed AR coated sapphire crystal, brushed blue sunray dial with blue, and orange Gulf stripes, and diamond polished luminous hour markers, and hands, vintage Heuer, and Gulf logos, along with orange lined blue calf skin leather strap. With the TAG Heuer Swiss automatic Calibre 11 with it's 59 jewels, and 40 hour power reserve being behind it all.

A few pictures everybody...

I like the theme because I'm a Gulf Racing fan. What I had hoped for was a re-edition (with the mushroom pushers and the vertical grain). And a colour coordinated strap

You remembered! To my shame I have to admit that I've lately been a bit too enthusiastic in living 'the good life'. So it's a bit well, ehhh, tight I blame the maker of course, as soon as I removed it from the packaging it started to shrink because of the oxygen in the atmosphere

Glad you are liking this one here guys. It really is such an incredible watch with an ultra cool history !

Love how they keep this model alive with new versions every once in a while. It makes you appreciate the original, but then also compare the different models too. Seems like this one is pretty close to previous variations, but with just slightly different hands, sub-dials, logos, and horizontal markers this time around right?! Really is phenomenal !

Hmmmmm, when they come out with the "Trojan" condoms logo on the dial I just might be interested, a Gas Station logo, umm, No!

I love the color combo of that watch....and the "gas station logo"....that just adds to the racing history of that thing.

When I first heard about this one I was positive I'd like it. I'm a racer myself as well as a lifelong fan of F1 and sports car racing. The Gulf Porsches are some of the most iconic and historic race cars of all time. I have a reproduction Daytona Gulf team jacket. And a Monaco Calibre 11 is at the very tip top of my Christmas list this year. I mean, all of the ingredients to love this version of the Monaco are there right?

Well, it didn't happen. For me this just doesn't work. Seems a bit gaudy if I'm honest, and the last thing this iconic timepiece needed was another logo cluttering up the dial. This is just my personal opinion guys so don't take offense. I know many of you dig it and that's great. I'm sure it will go down as another classic Monaco. It's just not my cup of tee. I'll stick with the classic Caliber 11 that Steve wore in LeMans and be a very happy camper.

Very cool. It does look a little cluttered though.
