Today Watch Freeks is excited, and deeply honored, to announce the new Watch Freeks Secret Angel Program. I feel strongly that this new program on the forum will be something that will touch each of us in 2010, and for many years to come.

We have an anonymous "angel" amongst us here at Watch Freeks. This person has seen the good that exists inside all people. They honestly feel that we all have the ability to be a "special angel" for others. They know that each of us has to ability to positively effect the lives of those around us, even when we might be struggling ourselves.

And now they want to be our Secret Angel here at Watch Freeks. Of course this program will include watches!

Here is how the Watch Freeks Secret Angel Program will work in the coming weeks and months.
  1. A new Sub-forum has been created in the Freeky Member Giveaways section. All Secret Angel Giveaways and corresponding threads will be announced or posted in this section.
  2. Every now and then (no set time periods) our Secret Angel will announce and host a free watch giveaway.
  3. This will not be your standard giveaway contest. BIG differences including:
    a) The winner WILL NOT be announced in the thread. The watch will just be sent out the day after the contest ends to the surprise winner
    b) You will not know what watch you could receive. It will be a complete surprise
    c) You will not know that you have won or what you have won until the day the new watch arrives at your doorstep!
  4. Watches will range in values from $50 to $300 and be from a variety of companies.
  5. The Giveaway threads will require you to post about a specific experience that has happened to you in your life. These might be times you have gone out of your way to help others OR a wide variety of topics. These will not be contests where you just type "please include me". To participate you will have to answer the questions asked.
  6. Once you have posted in the giveaway thread you will then also be required to send a confidential Private Message with your mailing address to the member called "Watch Freeks Angel" (all addresses for the contests will be kept 100% confidential and not used for anything other then shipping out the winning watches)
  7. At the end of each contest our Secret Angel will pick the winner and your new watch will be shipped directly to you!
Now the fun stuff begins. Once you receive your new watch the Secret Angel will only require 2 simple things from you.
  1. You post a thread with pictures and info about the new watch you have received
  2. You do a nice deed or act of kindness for someone else AND post what you have done in the same thread where you posted the pictures and info about the watch you received. This does not have to involve spending money. Could be as simple as going to your local grocery store and helping 10 people carry their groceries to their cars or any other act of kindness you come up with.
As mentioned above I am deeply honored to know that we have members on this site that care about each other and are willing to go out of their ways for the common good of someone else. The Watch Freeks Secret Angel program is just another example of the family we are building here on the forum and the goodness that we all have inside us.

I applaud our Secret Angel for being so generous, but also for seeing beyond just the metal and parts that make up the watches we love so much. This is a chance for all of us to STEP UP and be part of something bigger then just ourselves. This hobby of ours is supposed to be fun AND fulfilling. That is the entire spirit of the Secret Angel Program.

More info to come......very soon!

Also - the Watch Freeks Secret Angel Program sub-forum is HIDDEN from guests. ONLY members will be able to see this section and participate in the giveaways.

Here are answers to some questions I have already received twice in private messages -

1) I AM NOT the Secret Angel
2) I WILL NEVER tell who the Secret Angel is at the request of this incredible individual.

This is a special program being organized and run by a very special group of individuals that I am honored to be associated with. Thank you in advance for all the work and effort put into organizing and making this program a reality.

Very, very cool James! Another reason why this is becoming such a great place to share our passions for time pieces and other parts of our lives as well. Again, Kudos to "The Angel" for this concept and developing a way for us to "pay it forward". Way'ta go!!! .......... "BAD TO THE BONE!!"

I have been somewhat absent for a while. I found that the only way to stay in the NBZ was to remove all temptations, Now that the majority of the "big events" are coming to a close at the culmination of the Holidays, I am slowly returning to my favorite haunts. It looks like I return at a fortuitous moment. This has got to be a first in all of my years in forums, chat rooms and the like. l Let alone to have come up with such an increadibly wonderful idea ( I extend my sincere gratitude and admiration toward the Secret Angel whom ever he/she may be !) AND to see it embraced by the Freek community so whole heartedly lends much needed creedence to my belief in the basic goodness in all humankind. I am proud to be a member of this community, and while I am not a prolific poster I do a lot of reading. I found myself surprised at first and then again not really because the motivation behind this kind of program touches on the unerlying theme and spirit that runs throughout this forum and underpins the majority of it's posts.

You can count me in among, as I would guess, the vast majority of our members. Plus, as word spreads about this program, the many new members who will join, not because they may "win" a watch, but because the will find an outlet for their humanitarian and charitable impulses. Many want to help their fellow beings but can't find a suitable venue - - here, they will find one !

Thanks Jim, for all the hard work and for helping this to come about :c:c:c

Congrats, James! That's a really cool idea and it should really be a good thing for an already very cool forum!

Congrats to all the future winners and to our secret angel for coming up with such a great idea.
