I have a couple of co-workers that without them I would have a very difficult time getting the job done so to speak. So at the beginning of each year I always do a little something for them both as gestures of gratitude. Lunch and breakfast items for the first full work week of the year was what I decided upon this year. Then as the year goes along their birthdays and other special holidays are remembered in some way. Nothing big but just acknowledgment that they are important to me personally and professionally.

Another fantastic giveaway..........thanks SA!

Forum related:

Very recently a fellow Freek need a spring bar to repair a bracelet. I have a kit I bought on eBay with a lifetime supply so I sent them three (different sizes so they will have the one they need). In the process, a second Freek contacted me that they also were in need of a spring bar and I sent them what they needed. No big deal, just trying to help out another Freek when I can. I would hope they will pay it forward.

Thanks for the giveaway.

I was coming out of work ready to walk home and made a point of walking past the motorbike bay, Just as i always like to see what is parked there... I noticed that there was somebody fiddling around with their bike, Kinda checking it over if you know what i mean, I asked if everything was ok and he basically said he couldnt get the thing started.. So i helped him out best i could, Turns out it was because he had no fuel in the main tank, So he finally left on the reserve. Took us about 25 minutes to work out what it was but he seemed very grateful for my help as it was pretty cold out and he didnt want to be in a car park all night. So yeah, that was probably the first nice thing i did in 2011!

Good luck to all and thanks for the giveaway

The only thing that comes to mind is a beautiful Cat that I worked on resquing over this past weekend. I consider an Animal "Someone Else" because they are alive like us and many Animals have saved us Humans !! Anyway, this poor guy had a broken rear leg and was in a lot of pain hobbing around and it was killing me to see him out in my yard in 20 degree weather. I kept feeding him and gave him a blanket to lay on and got him to trust me so that I could finally capture him and get him to the Animal Shelter. Im going to see him tomorrow and may try to adopt him IF my Linda Pie (The Catwhat Owns this Place) will let me bring him in. Im an Animal lover and would do anything I possibly could to save an Animal . Great Contest and even Greater Nicolet !! Id LOVE to Own that Watch, Its just Awesome and my favorite color combo. Thank you Secret Angel for all you do for us !!
Mark

I pulled a guy over on New Years Day and issued him a citation for speeding. This was my way of giving back to the community.LOL! I did my part to keep the roads safe on the first day of the year. LOL!! Okay now I know many may not find that to be the nicest thing in the world, but if you saw the looks of terror in the faces of the other motorists as this violator was travelling by them at a high rate of speed I think they were very pleased to know he was seeing the red and blues in his mirror. LOL!! Thanks for the great giveaway WFA. No need to include me as I've been the recipient of many acts of kindness from many members on this forum.

I think the first nice thing (for others) I did in 2011 was to help my next door neighbor take down her Christmas lights.
She is elderly, lives by herself, and only has a little step stool for lift.

One of our younger neighborhood friends had helped her put them up during December; she explained that he was not at home to help take them off the house and the garden gazebo. She wanted to take them down "right away" because there was rain in the overnight forecast which worried her.

I have known this woman since my wife & I moved in; she's seen my kids born, grow up, and she always returns the toys that fly over the fence into her yard.
Honestly, how could I not help?

So, we brewed some coffee, out came my ladder and we chatted while I put her lights & decorations away. Later, after putting Christmas away, we were sipping coffee on her porch as it began to rain.

Perfect timing.

It's a good thing those lights came down too, because at some point during that stormy night her aluminum gazebo was blown over and crashed into our shared fence! Too funny.

"Well, how 'bout that!"~ Zoe (my daughter, pictured)

As I always do since my secretaries are underpaid for what they do on a day to day basis...............I always get them a gift card for Dunkin Donuts to warm their day. Small gesture I know but sometimes the small things in life make the big things seem so trivial.

Great responses here and I am sure the winner will be most deserving.

Let me add..............If I win I plan on giving the watch to someone underpriviledged that needs a watch and will take care of it and appreciate it. 2011 is the year I plan on paying forward to my fellow neighbors.

i hugged the neck and offered support to a friend whose cousin(like a brother raised in same household ) was murdered a few days after new year's day.
really a rough way to start a new year.
also supporting my wife (an only child ) as the date of her father's death arrives. it'll be one year. i tell her you never get over it, only time helped me since my dad died and hopefully it will her.

After a snowfall while at work, i was just finished cleaning my car off when a fellow employee got into her car next to mine. I didn't even hesitate I just cleaned off her car for her and she was very appreciative of my small gesture of good will in the new year.

I never like to give recommendations for other people. Invariably, if I give a recommendation to help someone gain employment, that person will make me regret it. Because of that, I have refused to give employment recommendations for 20 years. I broke that rule yesterday. My nephew appears to be trying to mature and get a real job after 6 years of "chasing his dream" of a career in theater. I called a friend at another nuclear plant to recommend him for an interview for employment. Hopefully, he will not make me regret it.

I gave my Green Bay Packer Starter parka to a friend of mine. She is a single mother of two and didn't have a winter coat.

pulled a young man over who had no license and was on probation for a drug charge...the young man was straight-up about all of the aforesaid...he was on his way to visit his grandfather...technically, he was arrestable for driving w/o a valid licence...this, along with the other violations I stopped him for could've violated his probation, which would've landed him in county lock-up or prison... I decided to use descretion...I gave him a stern talking to and turned him over to his grandfather...I wrote him no tickets at all...His grandfather told me he had really started to change his life around...He was extremely appreciative that I opted to handle it the way I did...The entire incident made me feel good inside...I felt like I had done something to help that young man change his life around...

What a great contest! The Angel is surely the person one should strive to be as.

I will note my story, although not great, but will leave the watch in the hands of someone else. I will take my reward from JJDSEARCH, as he found some straps he doesn't need, and will ship them to me

My lovely wife gets up earlier than I do, and usually makes coffee, so it's ready when I come out of bed a bit later. Can't wake up without my coffee :S
Right after New Years eve, which we spent at a friends house, we were both quite spent on energy with hangovers etc. As we took a cab back that morning, I opted to get the car, while she was in bed the most of the day, so that she could drive to work the following day.
I know, not a lot or a grand gesture, compared to some of the stuff you other guys (and especially the Angel) did or will do. It does however count in my book, to give back, even though it was to my own wife

Shoveling my neighbor's property for her after the blizzard we had here a few weeks ago. She's near 80
years old,and on her own.I do it for her all the time
without question.I also check on her from time to time.I know she appreciates it.She doesn't even have to say a word. Her smile says it all.
