Default Anyone own the Oris 65?

This watch has been piquing my interest for some time, have yet to see one at a store or in the wild.

The question I have is, will the stock rubber strap going to be long enough to fit my 8" wrist. Also, does it have more wrist presence then it's 40mm specs? I already own an Longines Legend Diver, so perhaps I will be going overkill on remakes of vintage divers?

It's a pretty small watch. The 41mm Tudor is by no means large, and makes the Oris look small

Happened to come across one at an AD. Personally did not like it. Felt like a women's watch on, and I've got just a 7" wrist. Just my opinion and to each their own.

It wears almost like like a Rolex Datejust. Very thin and wears close to the wrist.

Hmm, that may work, thanks Mark. Some 40mm watches wear large, my Tisell Sub, while others wear small like my Tag, hope it wears a little larger then the Tag.

I've been on the fence with this versus the Sinn 104 but I think Oris just came out with another version of this?

The new model is a 42, a little bigger

Yep new model is 42mm and doesn't have the numbers on the dial, just markers.

Don't care for it without the funky numbers, looks generic like it's a Steinhart or Squale vintage remake.

I went to Jared's today and they had two 65ís in stock, the one with the rubber strap, and the one with the canvas strap. I tried both of them on, and I found that the watch didn't seem too small for my 8" wrist, like some have complained about.

In fact I was wearing my Seiko Kinetic Tuna so, I really had something to compare with while on the wrist.

It was love at first sight after handling this watch, it is super comfortable on the rubber Tropic Strap, and just OK on the canvas strap which was really stiff.

The MSRP on the watch is just north of $1,800 and the best they could do on a deal was $1,575 before taxes, which took it up north of $1,600.

I tried to haggle with them, pointing out I can it get on the net for less then $1,200, they wouldn't budge a nickel. I told them that was the price from Jomashop, and the sales women then told me Gray Market sells phony watches.

We then headed out the door and my wife then told me, "Honey we have a Jared's account with a zero balance, why not get from them, the interest free account will almost make up the price difference".

My arm twisted, we went back inside and I told the saleswoman that I wanted one, but not a floor display model. She informed me that those were the only one's in stock. I then inspected those display models closer and both had noticeable nicks and scratches on the sides of the case.

Tried to haggle some more about the price, and they still wouldn't come down a nickel, that's when we left. I got home and I just ordered one with the Tropic strap from Jomashop for less then $1,200 delivered and it comes tomorrow. I plan to purchase the canvas strap also at a later date, it really looks like a sharp match to the watch, and my wife love the way it looked.

I wonder if the price for the first version will drop once version 2 is available.

Seems like they could be sold side by side. I really like the first one.

What version 2? Are you talking about the blue dial 40mm, or the new 42MM model.

Don't care for the shade of blue on the blue dial, and I definitely don't like the 42mm one, they put the date window at the 3: O'clock position and the removed the funky Arabic numbers that make this watch look unique.

The new 42mm on a bracelet looks too generic, like it's a Steinhart OVM, or a Squale vintage Military.

I like the size better on the newer model. The 65 wears way too small. Much smaller than a submariner

I don't know Mark, here is the Oris next to my Tisell which has the same exact specs as the Sub, I think the Oris actually wears larger since it has a narrow bezel the watch face appears to be wider then the Tisell. Measured the two watch faces and the Tisell is 28mm and the Oris 34mm. Here's a comparison shot of the Oris vs Tisell and Oris Vs. Rolex Hulk.

It sits way lower on the wrist, which gives me that feeling. It may give you a different one. But, that is why I didn't buy it and a lot of folks that I know didn't.

Enjoy your watch! I'm glad you like it!

Funny the case height for different watches feel different. I am unloading my Eterna Kon Tiki partially because how low it rode on the wrist, just didn't feel right at 42mm, but this one at 40mm feels great.

Go figure.

Chazz:
How can you possibly go wrong on this watch? No way!!!
I've been taking a trip downward in watch sizes.
Flipping or outright gifting away my larger manhole cover
sized watches. Haven't missed a one of em!!

42mm is my sweet spot and my honey hole spot now. Jus
like the spot on the Brazos River. Come on Stripers go for
my bait.

I'm in the process of thinning the herd, I have too many watches, you have them laying around all over, not enough room on the winders or the watch boxes.

Interestingly though, the largest watch I have, the Seiko Kinetic Tuna, actually wears fairly comfortably once you put it on a rubber or leather strap, on bracelet it feels like a boat anchor.

Congrats Chaz, just saw this post.Great piece IMO but I'm biased as I own 1 as well, perfect size too.Love the funkyness as well. The dot's version does nothing for me either.1 of these days we need to get together remember we only live miles apart.
