Default 2109 Highest quality dive watch in $500-$600 range?

Hi i am looking at getting a new diver and was wondering what y'all think is the brand that would give me the best bang for the buck. I was on a cruise and really liked the Tag Aquaracer calipre 5 blue but it is so expensive. I currently have a Steinhart Ocean 1 Blackface diver and was wondering is their a better brand for quality/accuracy/features at this price point than a Steinhart $556USD? Was thinking of the Steinhart Ocean One Premium in Blue. I would like the new watch to be blue faced. I also have a Citizen Promaster B15109l.
Wondering if there is a newer watchmaker who would exceed these in quality? Thanks in advance.

Hard to beat tisell for "bang for the buck". Deep blue is also a great option.
I owned the steinhart ocean one premium blue and it is an outstanding watch.
Phoibos is also a great choice and you can get several models in blue dial.

Try:

Davosa
Squale 20 Atmos
Tisell Sub

All great dive style watches. I prefer the Squale 20 Atmos as it fits my, small wrist, fairly well. Also look at the new Christopher Ward MK3 Trident in the 40 mm size. You can find them, used, for around $600-$700; they are great watches and fit smaller wrists. Hope this helps. You could also look at the Ginault Ocean Rover, but they are more expensive.... and a little controversy surrounds them, at the moment.

Check out this Mido Ocean Star Captain V diver, for less than $600 on Jomashop it can't be beaten. They even make a Blue dial version.

And a Glycine Combat Sub ( not a new watchmaker)would work for me at that price range, they might be less.

80 hour reserve ? Must be some sort of double barrel movement. Mido make their own movements ?

It's the Powermatic 80 (altered ETA 2824-2) that Swatch has in a lot of their mid-tier watches, Hamiton, Mido, Certina, etc.

Has a free-sprung balance wheel and runs at a slower beat rate.

Supposedly these watches run fairly accurately as well.

Dittos, unless he has an 8" wrist like mine, it didn't fit!

Here's the Shogun I had for a brief time before I sent it back, the bracelet was so tight it felt like my wrist was in a vice. They told be they would send me an extra link for $40 but it would take weeks for delivery. I said Bye Bye! The flat black dial took away from the watch as well, made it look cheap to me!

There’s a lot of great watches at this price, but I have to say from experience, the VSA Dive Master 500. I just recently posted a thread on it. It’s beautiful, rugged, and epitomizes a good dive watch IMHO. It’s discontinued, but still available new on eBay. Usually new at about 500-650 US. Here it is, again:

That’s an isoprene strap (separate purchase). IMHO better look than the one supplied.

You can get it in a range of colors, and auto or quartz.

First of all, don't feel bad about not getting the Tag. I actually bought that exact watch when I fell in love with it's looks. But after a few weeks I returned it--it had numerous build and QC problems (the sales rep where I bought it sold me the 3rd one she tried after the first 2 didn't work (the crown couldn't find the 2nd and 3rd positions) I later read about those problems and others (crown falling out) on online forums. I could tell you more if you want. Anyway I then went and bought a great Deep Blue--never a problem with it. And also a Luminox.

YES!!!!!

I bought one two months ago, and it has been FANTASTIC!

The bracelet surpasses the one on my Speedmaster. It has screwed pins, a beautiful satin finish, and even a ratcheting extension system that you'd expect on an Omega or Rolex, not a "low tier" Swatch Group watch.

The blue dial has a gorgeous grainy appearance. The 80 hour ETA has been averaging an amazing +2.5 sec/day.

The only thing I'd change is that the bezel is a bit on the thin side, so that really opens up the dial and makes it wear a bit large. So, if you have smaller wrists, you might want to see if you could try one on first.

It's a truly phenomenal value for what you get. I think it has scratched my watch itch for years to come!
