Default Bulova Super Seville? Worth the hype?

Big money's for these on eBay in good condition, especially automatic on a bracelet.
I love 'em and i think 36mm would wear fine on my 6.75 inch wrists, but are they worth the outlay of cash to get one? Im seeing them on eBay $700+....
Seems like a lot for a Rolex day date copy.

Alternatives?

Orient do this I think this is the closest homage you will find. They do a few variations too.
I also found this

Yowza, you might have to try out both this awesome Bulova, and
one of these terrific Orients Gary is showing WM !

Holy cow, really is though right?! I mean you really like the Bulova,
and the size is perfect, but the Orient gives you a similar feel for
a lot less.

Guess it really comes down to how much you like the Super Seville.
Whatever that answer is will point you in the right direction !

I'm a big Bulova fan... Worth the hype ? IMO, you bet. I'd take one over a Rolex if I could find one that hasn't been to Asia. Seems like they're all over there. And like you said, going for big bucks and hard to know exactly what has been done to them. Frankenwatched ? I've seem them plated in weird colors. Hard to trust in something that you know you're probably not going to be able to return or get any kind of customer service on.
I've been looking for one in the states, still looking. Love to find one that looks like this one.

Until then I'll have to make do with this Wittnauer (formerly owned by Bulova) for now.

Prices on Fleabay are ridiculous with an abundance of unscrupulous sellers. My advice is to look elsewhere if you really want one of these.

while ebay has been a great resource for newer stuff, i have had nothing but trouble with vintage watches off ebay. i recently picked up a Buler automatic and an Andrea jump hour off ebay. (both listed as working and keeping good time) the Buler ran, but if you moved the watch to wind via rotor the second hand would jump halfway around the dial, and the jump hour (had a very cool blue dial) came DOA.

I returned both and was refunded without hastle, but it was a disappointing experience for two vintage watches from two different sellers BOTH arriving not working as described.

Keep looking, be patient. The Super Seville is a bona fide vintage classic. The fact that they haven't re-issued it yet only makes it more rare and valuable. Remember, sometimes the thrill is in the chase
