Default Oh NO! About to break my no more expensive watch purchases pledge!

I have been looking at the Youtube videos about the Omega SMP 300 2018 model.

If you guys remember right a couple of years or so I was undecided to get an SMPc or a Breitling and chose the Breitling because it was a larger watch with more wrist presence on my 8" wrist.

Well, this new SMPc has a larger case, improved bracelet with a built-in extender that blows the Rolex glide-lock out of the water.

The watch has the new Omega in-house 8800 Master Co-Axial movement tuned to -0 +5 seconds a day, 35 jewels and 55-hour power reserve...

Watch has a ceramic bezel and a ceramic dial Yowza!

My wife is going on a trip to New Orleans with one of her gal pals in August and it is then I plan to strike! When she comes back and does spot it, I will refer to a web page of a Fake Watch distributer and point to their fake and tell her that's what I bought honey, a $380 fake. She doesn't have access to my Paypal account balances so I think I can pull this one off!

Anyways check this out, after seeing this baby, I don't know how much Rolex Kool-Aid you have to drink to pick a Sub over this, when it's a better watch and $7K less in price!

the omega planet ocean had been my favorite omega for a while, but this new seamaster might top it now as king of the hill!

I love mine. It is a better watch than my two subs by a large margin. The bracelet is killer!

Holy cow Chaz, yowza is right ! Didn’t actually realize that they
had changed so much with the Seamaster sir. I mean honestly thought
the previous models were terrific, but they seemed to have kicked things
up big time with this redesign really.

It’s like Omega listened to any, and every criticism fans had about the
watch, and made efforts to improve things. On top of that, the changes
seem subtle at first, but they actually seem very noticeable up close
within the video. Just the case, and bezel seem supercharged. Then
you check out that amazing dial, scalloped case-back, and movement.
Even that bracelet !

Thanks so much for the post, along with look ! ..We will definitely keep
everything on the down low.

Yowza, a Beauty, and if someone still can objectively claim this watch isn't better than a Sub, they have been drinking gallons of the Rolex Kool-Aid.

I have yet to see these in person but plan on doing so in a couple of weeks.

I want to see if the increased wrist presence is to my liking and then of course, which color choice do I make. I liked the blue dial original SMP, but the blue color on the SMPc was a little too over the top for me.

So it will be a toss-up between that the black dial and the blue bezel/gray dial one with blue hands which looks killer, but would probably get old looking in the long run.

Did you get a look at all of them, because I have seen photos of a two-tone blue rose gold model like yours that is mind-blowing!

I think you are right about the blue dial/ bezel in the context of the blue rubber strap. I really like the look my two tone sedna watch with blue dial and bezel though. The combination of the two tone watch combined with the really subtle two tone bracelet really balances ot the color scheme. The black dial is a classic look. No doubt about it. I think you will be blown away once you put them on.

I wasn't sure your watch was a blue dial, since it appeared more subdued then other photos I have seen.

Subdued is better for me, I certainly don't want that "hurts my eys" blue like the Tudor Pelagos has which.limits wardrobe choices!

Nice choice Chaz... Glad to see you're finally gonna get that Omega. I know you'll post pics when you pull the trigger. Be looking forward to it.

I have always wanted an Omega Seamaster 300, and almost dropped the trigger on an SMPc a couple of years ago, but was underwhelmed by the lack of wrist presence on my 8" wrist.

Ended up getting the Breitling instead.

This one really has me drooling especially with the larger case size and that super outstanding movement.

I have yet to see one in person and plan on running my local Jards tomorrow to check one out. If it fits right and looks as good as the photos depict, I just might tell my wife "Honey, you are going to be as mad as hell for a few days, but I am getting this one, Period".

Hmmmm, second thought, the while she's out of town, the "honey while you were gone I bought a fake" ploy , might just fare better for me!

Ok, my lust for this watch just failed! Not to worry about a sneak purchase anymore.

Went to my local Jared's and they had several of SMPc 2018 models, checked one out and although it looks super, I just didn't care for the high case and the weight.

It rode on my wrist like my old Sinn U1, I re-tried on the older model SMPc and that felt and look better on my wrist, but I don't like the flat dial.

Jared's was going to give me the old model BNIB out for door for $3,100.

Then the sales dude goes in the back room and tells me look at this, it's a next day return that they have to discount as a used watch, but comes with box, papers and warranty.

It's a 44mm Super Ocean Breitling automatic, limited edition with Blue dial and blue solid ceramic bezel. It looks a hundred times better in the steel then it does on a photo.

He was going give me that one for $2,700 out the door, that one was really singing to me, but nah!

Here's the two that got away.

Wow, very nice sir !!!

They look beautiful from here. So can imagine them there in person !
At least you are having fun testing them out like that, and getting a feel
for them, and everything. One's bound to grab you sooner, or later there !
Thanks so much for the look Chaz !!!

Actually, the lighting at Jared's is set up to make everything look blingy (reflections upon reflections to make their diamonds sparkle), which is a mistake in my mind for the watch department.

That's why the photos are terrible and it's hard to get a proper perspective of what the watch really looks like. Good thing I was wearing my Breitling that I left on the sales counter with the sales guy so he would let me take all these watches outside to look at in natural light. All of them looked infinitely better in natural light, the SMPc 2018 the most.

If the 2018 SMPc was about a millimeter shorter in case height, I would be ordering one today. At 13.5mm case height, it's right over the threshold of being an everyday dress diver for me..
