Default Getting hit with a customs charge when buying from Chrono 24. Japan to US

Im in florida, USA and bought a new grey market watch in box with papers from Japan from Chrono 24. Do I have to worry about getting hit with customs or duties after receiving it here in the US? I buy from Amazon and ebay via china all the time but nothing this expensive and I have never received a customs or tax bill. This is their policy. This is what their store says on their chrono profile.

・Brand new items
Technically, all of our items are categorized in second-hand since we are not an official store.
Therefore, we declare the brand new items as Pre-owned or Used as well, for customs purposes.

Not sure about the US but most countries impose customs duty on these items. One would think that the customs authority would have this information available on a website.
Good luck, you may get lucky

I have ordered a few things from overseas and have yet to get hit with a customs charge. Nothing was much more than a few hundred dollars, if that matters. I live in Michigan, BTW.

This is not directly related to the OP's question but it is one of the reasons I generally refrain from buying goods that are offered outside the EU. I know the rules but sometimes I forget and with Massdrop especially I became unpleasantly surprised to such a degree that I stopped buying from them altogether. A shame because they generally offer quality EDC stuff and nifty gadgets.

To paint the picture I am faced with: all goods over 22 Euro are taxed. The import tax is calculated over the goods plus the shipping costs and varies according the category. Electronics are taxed with 6%. But it doesn't stop there. 21% VAT is charged over the previous total. And last but not least, the paperwork to get this all done is a standard fee of 14 Euro. So a 23 Euro item will cost me a princely sum of, wait for it: 43.50 Euro if it doesn't escape Custom's scrutiny. And I even didn't include shipping costs! So I pass.

Sometimes the parcel goes through without it being examined and then you are lucky. Often this is when the shipping is free but they use sea containers and that takes ages. If they send it by air (express) the above will spring into action and your bargain turns into a disappointment money wise.
