Is there a reason for it being so thick?

This is my personal opinion, Seiko has the "Tuna Can", yours looks like a real Tuna Can, yours looks hideous, sorry, I'm out!

Don't hate it. Dial seems small but bigger dials tend to be awkward for the 2824 date window. I would consider a no date movement and increase the size of the dial by like 4mm.

My real problem is the band. The band will take an awkward bend when wearing it. I'd work to redesign that part first.

Unless you plan on wearing it on a bicep.

The new case shape is an improvement, but it's still too large.

It's the depth of the watch and the strap position that make it a no go for me.

Do you have a specific use in mind for that one?
The reason for my question is because it appears to be massive, as already pointed out

I won't sugar coat it: it's too tall and appears too massive. And so many parts for just a watch case. But if this is your dream, fulfil it and don't take any notice of me!

Too bad for you Ringling Brothers and Barnum Baily folded their Circus tents, yours would make the perfect Clown's Watches for them.
