Default Sea-Gull 1963 Pilot Chronograph

Another one incoming, the 38mm hand wound Sea-Gull 1963 Pilot Chronograph which I was able to get at a very good price (always a good excuse to justify yet another superfluous watch purchase ). My third chronograph to date. It has a display back and of the original only 1400 were produced for the Chinese air force. I expect to receive it within 14 days.

I've been eyeing those for awhile, they do have classic good looks. The only thing holding me back is I tend to sell every chronograph I buy.

But then those were all three sub-dial designs.

It’s mostly that, the classic looks with mushroom pushers. I will probably never use the chronograph but in my neck of the woods it’s a unique watch. Something different so to speak. But having said all this, no one will notice it

You may have to wear it caseback-side up for anyone to notice. Who cares what time it is!

Nice looking watch with a very good movement that I've only read good reviews about. Enjoy that one when it arrives

Yes I like it, I have a bit of a thing for the twin register chronographs?
Which Seagull movement is inside?
In my TC9 Lunarscope is a Seagull St19 column wheel movement which is an upgraded version of the old Swiss Venus movement, absolutely superb I can't fault it.

Oh nice Frans, and check out how they actually made this one look
like it was made back in 1963 ! That whole look of the dial, but
also case is sensational, and really looks vintage.

Love the way the 38mm size looks to be 43mm+ because of the beat
design too, and how about that movement?! Stunning sir ! Big congrats
ahead of time on this !!!

Going to be tough waiting for this one I think Frans, but know it will be
worth it. It might make your other two Chronographs jealous though !

I’m used to waiting, only a couple of days. The three chronographs are over the a 30 plus year period. The first one is long gone, number two was bought not that long ago and this is number three.

Am thinking your patience is going to really pay off sir ! The way
this one seems to balance sportiness, and class is great. Love just the back,
and forth of colors !!!

Think you, and your other chronographs past, and present will all love it !

It’s more or less a necessity to me. These packages have to be signed for and I usually have to pay import duty and because most of the time no one is there to receive the package I have to reroute it to a pickup location. But the tracking itself adds to the experience as well I use an external tracking site for this. Because it entered the EU, I soon will receive the payment link for the duty.

No fun the import duty I had some to pay on my last purchase.

Got it! Not only is it a hand wound movement, it doesn't hack as well but I knew this. I purchased a nice, padded calf leather strap (18 mm) for it beforehand. It came with a simple leather strap and a green NATO strap.

What is your feeling/impression of the watch now that you've seen it in the metal and had it on your wrist?

A keeper for sure! The pushers operate a little stiff but I won't use the chronograph anyway. I will try the 'gently turn back the hour hand to stop the second hand' trick tomorrow in order to set the seconds more accurate so that I can time the watch.

The case is fully polished, this must have been the style of the 1963 original. It also came with a piece of circular protection foil (made from the same material used for smart phone screens) to protect the perspex crystal. I won't use it and thus will have to live with the odd scratch or two but these can be polished out.

The 38mm case size really fits the watch and it's a long time ago I wore such a relatively small watch. All and all, a nice watch for the money (< 200 Euro) and something different from all the other watches I own (bar the HMT Pilot).
