Default My new Seiko

My wife of 36yrs decided to give me a new Seiko for our anniversary. It’s an SRPB55. I really like its look. And it fits my wrist pretty good. What do y’all think of this particular model?

I’m afraid now I may have to collect a few more.

Stunning piece, you can not go wrong with Seiko I have three in my rotation at the moment plus a few micro brands with Seiko movements.
You will find a lot of love for Seiko here, I just wish my wife shared the same taste as yours, its all shoes and handbags in our home.

Sent from my Sinclair ZX81 using a dial up modem.

Thanks. My wife knows me pretty well. The case and bezel have a sort of gun metal look. And, I love guns. So, it was a no brainer for her to pick that one for me. I found out later here on the forums that its also a Samurai model. Which goes along with my knife collecting as well. I like the idea of automatic movement as well. No batteries to worry about. And, from what I'm reading this particular movement is pretty solid. I should get many years of enjoyment out of the watch.

That's a nice watch there Marty. You'll see the popularity of Seiko here on this thread:

Your Sammy rocks! My wife is a watch collector as well as me. It helps (I think)
And yes, you WILL have to collect more.

I'm pretty sure my wife is an anti-watch collector but puts up with it. Gorgeous samurai. Your wife made an excellent choice.

Really is one unbelievable gift, and watch there Marty !

Your wife has some amazing taste honestly. ..The Samurai is sensational in
any form, but there is something about this version that just screams class !
It's tough too though ! Big congratulations on all fronts there !!!

Congrats... Very nice piece. The colors really go together well and that movement is bulletproof. Don't shoot it to find out if I'm right...lol ! Should give you many years of solid service. Enjoy.

I picked up another Seiko off the evil auction site for a good deal. It’s a Seiko 5, limited edition, with the 4R36 movement. It’s got a very nice Seiko branded leather strap, with the buckle signed Seiko. I know very little about the watch, other than what I’ve stated. Can anyone give me more info on this watch? It’s a gorgeous piece, and looks new. Not a scratch on it.

Thanks,
Marty

That should be hand windable and hacking (second hand stops when you pull out the crown) looks cool man. The 4R series winds like greased butter. Enjoy.

And being limited edition you shouldn't see too many more of them.

It’s the only one I’ve seen like it so far.

Found a couple more of the limited editions like mine on eBay, but the sellers are asking a lot more than I paid.

Even cooler you got a good deal. Run now. Next thing you know your watch box is too small. Congratulations on the new piece.

I really love the looks of the Samurai and am contemplating it as my next Seiko. I do like the blue waffle dial myself though but, yours is pretty sharp looking itself.

Mley1:
On our 50th wedding Anniversary my wife (and springoffs + inlaws) sprung for a
Casio GW3000bb1. It's an Aviation watch. Hasn't done me dirt once in 5 years Our 55th was 4 Apr 2019. No watches or what I wanted (a Dreadnaught Accoustic Guitar). Guess
I can't have everything I desire.
