Default My first Rolex

Good morning everyone

At 54 years old I finally got my first Rolex. After a lot of research and looking I decided to go with the submariner Black face no date model number 114060. I had a lot of debating whether to buy online and save some money or go to a local Rolex dealer here in Houston. In the long run I decided to go to a local Rolex authorized dealer. The good thing is it is brand-new with a five year warranty. Bad news I spent about I thousand more from my local dealer.

One question on this watch what is an acceptable amount of time to gain in 24 hours. Mine seems to gain five seconds in 24 hours. Is this acceptable or should I have them try and re-time it. Here is a picture of my watch.

Nice watch - congratulations.

What's important is that the watch performs within the COSC specs which is an average of -4 to +6 seconds over a 24 hour period.

Would appear that you don't have anything to worry about.

Thank you very much for the information. My watch is definitely in that category.

I was just about to say what Reflex has already stated, enjoy your Rolex. I was lucky enough to be gifted a Rolex GMT Master 16700 by my Dad, otherwise I would have never been able to afford one.

Love mine and will never part with it.

Absolutely love that watch, in fact i was day dreaming about that bad boy just this morning. I have a Deep Blue JuggernautII (orange) and don't wear it (ostentatious), but think that Sub daddy would be perfect; so let me know if you wanna swap watches ok. Congrats! --on Your new DB Jugger

+5 is within COSC standards, but I thought the latest Models were touted at running more like +1 or +2?

Give it some time, it should settle in and run better.

+5 is a little unacceptable for Rolex but it, unfortunately, happens nowadays (people just don't put as much passion into their work like they used to...).

It is within COSC standards but it should be +2 +3 or so not +5... Then again it's not like it's +10 seconds and it can certainly be regulated but still...

to me that is a little bit off but perhaps you should wear the watch consistently for a month or two to break it in and hopefully timing will improve. The fact that you purchased from a Rolex dealer and paid the extra money will make it easier to resolve and regulate your watch in the future if needed . Congrats on a big step. enjoy

Hats off on a superb selection. Classic Sub there for sure that goes with any causal or dress attire. I actually prefer the no date. Enjoy for many years to come.

It really gets no more iconic than a Sub. IMO, the most copied watch in the world. It will last you a lifetime, with service. It makes a fine item to bequeath. Do enjoy!

Congrats on a beautiful watch. The sub is a classic, and in my opinion, the clean look of no date really is the way to go.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!!!!

Now I want one when I turn 54!!!!

I would not sweat the extra G that you dropped to go through a local AD.

I think it's money well spent. It bought you piece of mind, knowing that you can always go back to that shop for help/advice or just to visit, and you know you will always be treated as a respected member of the Rolex family.

Well done, my friend!!!!!!
