An interesting Avalon model I picked up from Yahoo Japan, minute repeater, with a ton of other features. On a cheap leather strap for now, not sure if I'll keep it or sell it.

Default Number 15 is Alive!

I've been slack and haven't posted or even visited for ages.

I'm inspired today, because I got the email to say Number 15 out of the first, and so far only, fully "Manufactured in Australia" pieces was ready for me to collect.

This is designed, machined, finished, polished, plated, assembled, tested and adjusted right here in Sydney by a local watchmaker who started this insane project a few years ago and is determined to get off the ground without doing the usual buy all the bits from somewhere else and whack it together = locally made.

The first truly All Australian Made watch.

Congratulations to a nice guy, Nick Hacko for seeing this project through, overcoming many obstacles along the way and acquiring some seriously awesome machine tools along the way.

Number 15 is all mine!

I'm still waiting on the genuine hand made and tailored to me Kangaroo Leather strap to be made, so it isn't all completely local yet.

I've been like a kid at Christmas in the lead-up and then the collection of this. The brushed and polished titanium case is exceptionally well finished. The antique coloured dial markings and hands are terrific and the beautifully decorated movement is finished superbly.

In typical pedant fashion Nick was still grumbling about the gold plating and anti-reflective coatings, but "Bah!" I say.

It is awesome in real life.

It even inspired me to take photos and post them here and be interactive again!

Grinning like an idiot all day!
