Living together without being married used to be scandalous...back in the day, anyway...Have you ever lived with the opposite sex without being married ?

Yes 3 times. Better to find out before you get married.

NO, we spent a lot of time together in college but never officially lived together before we got married.

My Father always told me, and I quote " Boy NEVER marry a women without shackin up first"!!! His point was well taken, you never really no somebody until you have shared a dwelling with them. It kind of is like saving your self for marriage, when was the last time you bought a pair of shoes without trying them on first, or Bought a car without at least tried sitting behind the wheel. Thats some B.S. what if they where no good in bed, Living with that would be a nightmare!

A test drive and living together are very different. You can take the test drive and still go home. I see nothing wrong with that.

You are misinterpreting my comment. I'm not say it is wrong to live together I'm just saying there is a difference between 'shackin up' and living together. Maybe I've misinterpreted your comments.

Nope, never and never wanted to. I'm a traditionalist so that wouldn't have been for me any way.

I'm all in favor of the "try before you buy" method. It's amazing what you find out once the novelty wears off, It is hard to keep up the front we all seem to "put on" while dating (best foot forward and all that), when it's 24x7 the truth comes out for both of us whether or not we were aware of the "best foot" forward we were engaged in.

Well, i will be shortly........My girlfriend and I plan on moving in this year with each other, but I do want to eventually marry her.......

my take on it is very simple.....years and years ago, tradition was tradition, and you werent supposed to live together unless married.......

well, living day to day with someone is very different than dating them.......you dont know how your going to get along with each other on a day to day basis, all of your quirks and habits, etc.....you dont know these things until you experience them......so why would i get married first, and then if it doesnt work out, now you have to go thru a divorce and a whole bunch of other crap..........i think its much smarter to live with someone first to really get to know them, before commiting to them with marriage.........

I will confess and say I did and regret it...

...NOTHING, no matter what you say, is the same as being married to someone.
