Default QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What type of work do you do?

(( you do not have to post the name of the company or where (city or state0 you work ))

I thought it would be interesting to see what type of work and industries our members are involved in. Should be fun.

-------

I will start. For the past 20 years or so I have been involved in the restaurant and hospitality industry. A large portion of that time I have sold/managed corporate and social special events (from small to very large).

Currently I am the General Manager for one of the larger special event rental companies (with 30 offices nationally) and we rent tents (from small to very very large structure tents), tables, chairs, linens, china, decor, draping, lighting, sound, and much more - basically anything/everything you would need for any event.

What about everyone else!

I am a Sr. Vice President for an independent testing laboratory that specializes in safety and efficacy testing of cosmetic, personal care, and OTC consumer products.

If you or your wife puts it on her body we most likely did the safety and claims support work on it or competitive products like it.

Worked for several years managing PSD teams in Baghdad. Gave that up after dodging too many bullets for Government contracting in Afghanistan.

Now consult for other companies in business development in the same field with a side line of sourcing and procurement

Additionally, partnered in security integration company here in the Middle East.

I worked as a merchant seaman for 31 years for the largest ferry system in the US and was a jack of all trades. I replaced employees who were sick or injured on the job or on vacation so I did a lot of commuting at any time of the day or night since I was on call 24/7. I turned 50 and retired in 2008.

I run a software sales team for one of the larger technology companies. I used to be a software engineer but it is more profitable for me to leverage my bullshitting skills.

International executive headhunter, specialized in I.T. primarily in Financial services, insurance and healthcare organizations... retired at 33-- primarily due to botched back surgeries that left me with permanent nerve damage. Now I'm just a broken old fart!
