Just imagine the 1st wristies!!!
Pocketwatches altered by adding lugs so they could be
wrist worn. I'm told 1st wristies were altered by WW1
soldiers for easier time telling. Jury is out on that idea.

Biggest pocketwatch I've owned (and gifted) was a 1913
Elgin pocketwatch. Dubbed the "Biscuit Watch"because
it was the size of a biscuit. Technically it was the size 18.

Too large for any jeans watch pocket. But my overalls bib
pocket would accept it. I had a habit of breaking pocket
watch chains. Gold filled Simmons brands.

Was I glad to see the RR I worked for approve wristies for
operating dept employees? Engrs, Conductors, Brakemen
and Switchmen. No females back then.

These Zillas are the largest watches I have ever purchased. The Auto-Zilla is 55mm with the Eco-Zilla a couple of mms smaller this is due to the quick release mechanism for the bezel on the Auto-Zilla making it slightly larger. Both are 19mm deep.

Sent from my Sinclair MK14 using a dial up modem.

My dear beside me commented on a watch and i just told her about the pockets being wrist adapted...then i read this. Interesting.
It would be nice, if i were a collector, to have an original adapted piece.
