About (from company website):

We are makers of hand-crafted leather goods and as watch enthusiasts, collecting timepieces and building straps are our passions. With our knowledge on leather, LPV Bespoke Leather is founded to deliver the finest products, each is crafted uniquely. No machines are used during the production, because we believe the best should be individually sewn, cut and finished by hands. As exotic as leather can be. We are always discovering to offer something different than the usual.

"My leather place is resided in Vietnam, with its own CITES approved farm raised alligator. Most of my works are handmade, only special constructions require moulds."

What is CITES?

CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is an international agreement between governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.

Because the trade in wild animals and plants crosses borders between countries, the effort to regulate it requires international cooperation to safeguard certain species from over-exploitation. CITES was conceived in the spirit of such cooperation. Today, it accords varying degrees of protection to more than 35,000 species of animals and plants, whether they are traded as live specimens, fur coats or dried herbs. Each protected species or population is included in one of three appendices.

CITES works by subjecting international trade in specimens of selected species to certain controls. All import, export, re-export and introduction from the sea of species covered by the Convention has to be authorized through a licensing system. Each Party to the Convention must designate one or more Management Authorities in charge of administering that licensing system and one or more Scientific Authorities to advise them on the effects of trade on the status of the species.

Why is a CITES Certificate important?

The CITES certificate is necessary for the successful delivery of goods, which without a valid certificate would then be automatically returned to the sender. A CITES certificate provides support that the goods comply with the provisions under the trade convention and provides proof to the purchaser that the goods were procured in a fashion to ensure that commercial demand does not threaten their survival in the wild.

Packaging:

The strap arrived at my home in a padded envelope. Inside the package, the strap was enclosed in a silk pouch and safe from damage during transit. This packaging is more than adequate and the silk pouch with satin bow closure is a very nice touch.

Photos of strap:

LPV Bespoke alligator straps are offered in three different finishes – Matte, Semi-Gloss and Glossy. For the review strap, I chose the Semi-Gloss style with a custom vintage patina finish.

When I first received the strap, I was impressed by its rich color and vintage appearance of the strap. The color of the alligator is mottled in appearance, with varying shades of brown throughout its surface. As you can see from the photos, the strap's stitching coordinates with the color of the strap and almost disappears into its surface.

The hand stitching is excellently executed, with straight, even and precise stitching.

When received, the strap had a soft texture and was fairly pliable. The edges are expertly finished and they have a very nice, refined appearance. The craftsmanship of this strap seems to be on par with similar straps within or even above its price point. These factors, coupled with the fact that it is completely handmade, definitely make the strap a very good value and a nice alternative for someone looking for something that not just plain vanilla.

Wrist Shots:

Please note: For reference purposes, the pictures below are taken on a 7.25 inch wrist.

My Thoughts and Impressions:

Overall, I am pleased with this strap and I would recommend LPV Bespoke Leather to anyone looking for an expertly made custom leather strap at a great price. At this point of my reviews, I usually will go through a list of areas where the strap could be improved or changes that I would have preferred. Well, with this strap, I have nothing else to say…Great job, Long!

Thanks for Reading ~ Mark

Very nice work for the price. These type of straps are very difficult to make. His execution is very well done.
