Specifications:

Leather: Oil Tanned Chocolate/Sand Bison
Hardware: Brushed 316 Stainless Steel
Stitch: White Waxed Irish Linen
Style: 5 ring Premium xlong n80
Edge: Burnished, no dye
Thickness: 2mm
Lining: none
Customizations: none
Sizing: Based on Wrist Circumference
Premium price range: $75-90
As Reviewed: $80

Thoughts and Impressions: The strap arrived packed nicely in a square labeled cardboard box. I really like the personal touch of the note inside the box. The material for the strap is Bison leather called chip/sand (chocolate chip). The strap measures 22/22mm, 45cm/450mm in length, and 2mm thick. The stitching is waxed Irish linen. The typical cost is $75 - $90.

The strap was extremely soft and flexible right out of the packaging. The design of this NATO is really what makes the strap quite unique. The strap's extra long design allows for doubling over of the strap giving the strap a thicker feel as well as a comfortable feel on the wrist compared to other NATO straps I have utilized. I believe the doubling over adding to the thickness provides a better balance on the wrist and we all know balance aids in comfort level.

The waxed Irish linen stitching is precise and even throughout the strap. The amount of stitching on this NATO is greater than what I have seen on most which just adds to the overall look making it appear more like a standard strap than just a NATO. n80leather also pays very close attention to detail in relation to the watch for which you are ordering the strap. I asked Dustin to be creative and notice the stitching on the buckle end of the strap. Dustin used an OD green waxed linen to provide some color contrast on the strap and match up well with the green on the dial of the UNIQ P-47 Thunderbolt.

I requested standard NATO hardware but other buckle option designs are available. A standard Pre-V style buckle on a NATO looks very different. I also know n80leather is working on obtaining canvas to use as a backing on some of the NATO straps. I really look forward to seeing one once the canvas is acquired as I believe the canvas will make the NATO more comfortable on the wrist. Well done Dustin as this strap is one of the best NATO strap I have experienced to date. Very creative and unique design along with quality materials make for a fantastic NATO strap experience.

BTW, I'm not a big typical nylon nato fan but when its done with quality leather, length, and upgraded hardware like this, I love them.

Yeah bud one of these will be perfect for you. I'd ask for the waxed canvas lined variation though. Wasnt available when this initial review began. There is a review on the waxed canvas next month sometime.

I don't know how I missed such a great review Mike, my apologizes.

I'm just after purchasing a Blue P-47 and really digging the design of this Nato. I've really no experience of Nato's to be honest. But I just love the complexity that they bring to this piece.

Most excellent work indeed. This certainly works for the green dial, but I'm not sure what leather colour combination would work with the blue dial. I'm pretty bad when it comes to interior design as well

Love it and thank you so much for the time and effort that has obviously went into this review Mike.

Drop Dustin a line. I'm sure he can work up an idea. Personally I'd consider the same color/leather then just figure out the stitching. Definitely some blue accent stitch like the green on this one.

The waxed canvas backing increases the comfort level. Can be done on the XLs as well.

Perform the nickel test. If a nickel will fit between case and spring bar all good. If not see if a dime will work and go with that thickness.

These are custom fit...including thickness. I have tons of leather as well. I can make them as thin as 1.5mm and as thick as the maximum space your watch will allow. A friend with a Benarus Megalodon has about 3mm of space! so, his custom 3mm thick strap is certainly one of a kind. The strap for review went on a watch that allowed a thicker strap. I bet it could have been a little thicker. Never asked mike how it fit.

They seem like little numbers but can drastically change the look and feel if your strap....

Forgot to ask before...

Do you make these in two pieces as well? The watch I have in mind now is already a bubble back and I would prefer a two piece that didn't add at all to the (already very big) case height on this one. Thanks.
