Strap Description: This strap is made from a 1945 Swedish Army pistol holster. It is very unique as the holster had a star pattern all throughout the leather. I have only seen a few of these straps like this, and from what I understand this leather is very rare. The strap is about 4.5mm thick and has what I believe to be an English Bridle leather backing.

Strap specifications:

Width:┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬* 22/22mm
Lenth:┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬* 130/85
Thickness: 4.5mm
Keepers:┬*┬*┬*┬*1 large fixed keeper┬*
Stiffness:┬*┬*┬*
Relatively stiff, on a scale of 1-10, 7
Stitching:┬*┬*┬* White minimal stitch
Holes:┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬* 5 round holes
Buckle:┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬* Maddog custom large stainless buckle

Price:┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*Strap $169, Buckle┬*$109┬*┬*┬*┬*┬*

Packaging:┬*
I did not recieve any packaging with this strap. I am not sure if he regulary does not have any kind of packaging but it arrived very safely in a bubble wrapped envelope and inside the strap was wrapped in paper towel. To me it does not matter, as the strap itself more than makes up for the lack of packaging.

My Photos:

Thoughts and Impressions: The strap is very unique. As I said above, this particular leather is rare, and the star pattern realy makes this strap pop. Maddog makes extreme quality straps, from the stitching to the leather to the buckles, he really does not cut corners. The strap is pretty stiff upon arrival, and with the massive solid buckle, does make it hard to wear at first. I did bend and twist the strap and try to break it in with my hands first, and then it needed a couple of days before it really was to break in and conform to the wrist. But it is the type of leather used and this type of strap. It is extremely sturdy and seems like it will last for years to come with proper care. My only negative would be the buckle. While the craftsmanship of the buckle is obvious, it is a little too large for my own personal tastes. It almost draws the attention away from the watch head and makes you focus on the buckle. Now, some people will like this buckle alot. Again, I like it in terms of looks and quality, but wearing it , it is a little large. Definitley not something I would wear every day. But Maddog also has other buckles available as well, some smaller and definitely unique as well. Overall an excellent strap and Maddog also is very passionate about making straps and his CS is top notch. He will not stop until you get the exact strap that you want.

Thank you for reading and I look forward to your comments.

Thanks for the review. That particular strap is not for me, but I will consider them next time I am in the market for a strap.

Yes, a teutonic sized buckle there, the ones I got from him were very thick!

Great review Don!

Buckle just way too big for my liking ... like the leather though.
Fascinated by what I find on this site in terms of the strap makers. Never knew there were so many artists out there for straps. Nice.

Keep in mind he does have other types of buckles. This one is too large for my tastes as well.

I feel just the opposite about the buckles I like that it is big and has some weight behind it. and since the strap is 28mm that tapers to 26mm the big 26mm buckle works.

Dont get me wrong Rich, as I said the buckle is really cool, but just not for me personally. I love the strap, but the buckle is just too big and heavy for my personal taste.
I know many love the buckle and it is absolute quality for sure.

Hi

thanks for all..and yes..buckle heavy plain is a fat one..5mm thickness with 3mm screw in pin.

I love the fat ones..but I know that not everyone love this kind of buckles....

I also have the new type of buckles..named HT for high tech..they are not so fat.

thanks for your time

have a nice day

i'm sure pictures don't do this strap justice, the character is Your leather is incredible.

That buckle's right on time for the Thanksgiving Holiday, it does look unique as large as it is but i'm a puny guy who lacks that flare.

These last two HT buckles are very very nice; may i ask the price of each?
