About Rob Montana:
Raised in NW Montana, Grad School in N. Ireland where I met my wife and moved back to Montana. We spend most of our time traveling abroad, backpacking, mtn. biking, rock climbing, rafting, skiing and snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, playing with our two golden retrievers, Titan and Tucker, and with our two cats Tuffy and Jaxx. Strap Description:
Vintage Swedish Military leather straps WW1. These pieces are similar to my original V1 pieces but the leather has a bit different character and does not have the original maker stamp and date but it does have the original stitch scars in it. It is fantastic leather with character and will out last both of us As usual I can do any stitch color and pattern. NOTE: these are vintage pieces so they will all come out just slightly different but the same design. Prices for the V2's are $199 with non custom buckle.

Strap specifications
24/24mm width
135/85 length
4.5mm thick
2 floating keepers
Stiffness: Slightly firm but very pliable.
Black stitching
Round holes
Buckle: Custom skull buckle(Standard buckles available as well as other custom buckles)

Price Strap $199 Custom buckle $35

Packaging:

The strap came via USPS priority mail. He includes a postcard which he writes a little note and signs on the back and a Strapsmith business card. I really like the way that he packaged the strap, in tan tissue paper, wrapped in twine. Just gives an old world feel to it, which I though was appropriate, considering how old the leather is used to make the strap.

My photos:

The strap is very vintage looking in appearance, but not distressed as much as a broken in look. The stitch marks in the middle of the strap are from the actual ammo pouch. The leather is a little stiff at first, but wears in like a nice pair of boots, and conforms very comfortably to the wrist. The more you wear it, the softer it gets, and adds more character to the strap.

The buckle I chose was the skull buckle, but that should come as no surprise to anyone who knows me. I absolute love the buckle, as it just makes the strap stand out even more.
I think the idea of a custom buckle is great. We are buying a custom strap, why not have something to make it even more custom , like this buckle . The stitching is perfect, and as you can see , he signs it on the back of the strap as well, and also marks it hand made.

Thoughts and impressions:
The leather from this strap is from a 1917 WW1 ammo pouch. To some that might not be a big deal, but for me it has that cool factor, knowing it was not just off the shelf leather used to make the strap. I definitely have a thing for vintage ammo straps, as I like their unique characteristics and that no two straps would be the same.

The leather on this is beautiful and seems like it will last for years. The custom buckle is also one of my favorite things about it. Rob has many other custom buckles on his site, probably enough to suit anybodys needs, or he has standard buckles as well.

Rob also had a great turnaround time for this, 8 days, which to me was very fast. While the price for one of these straps is expensive, I can say for me, the old adage of you get what you pay for , holds true here. I definitely see another Rob Montana strap in my future.
Thank you for reading and I looked forward to comments.

It is always nice to have that little extra.....the buckle is very cool......how many strap companies offer other than a standard buckle?

I had originally ordered this with black stitching.

Turns out, I dont like black stitching. Just too dark and I dont think it compliments certain watches, like ivory or natural stitching does.

So I asked Rob, if he could restitch it. Well, he can!

Sent back to him, and had it back in under a week.

I think it looks better with the ivory stitching.
