i think i must be developing a bit of snobbery in my old age, because i just dont understand how so many companies can throw a cheap nato strap and seiko movement in an otherwise average watch and charge $725 for it. (650 euros)

dont get me wrong, I like the watch...(outside of the nato part, that would have to go)
but nothing about this watch makes me feel like it specs out in the $700 range.

no bracelet, reliable but very inexpensive movement, cheap strap material....
they make it a "limited edition" and people go nuts.... and it worked because that model is sold out.

the watch IS cool as heck, but when I look at what i can get for that same money i just dont realistically see myself buying this at retail.

of course, thats just part of my watch OCD madness. the absolute NEED to min/max cost analysis on every purchase keeps me from buying a watch i might otherwise really like but cant justify the cost based on the sum of its parts.

i would consider this watch in the $400 range maybe, and even thats stretching it for a nh35 powered watch.

Don't think it's snobbery, or anything on your part WM. ..Just think it's
common sense.

This watch would be great at around $225 right?! No more than $325 !

at $300 i would be all over this watch.. but considering the website lists it as sold out, aparantly enough people liked it at retail price...

I imagine (and this is just pure speculation on my part) that a fair number of those buyers are trying to capatilize on the moon landing aniversory gimmick of the watch and plan to flip them at a profit. that seems to happen fequently via ebay with limited edition's...look at some of the Seiko LE's that go for double retail on ebay.

What an odd watch. I like the simple uncluttered vibe of its dial, but with the white-ish case, white dial and cheap-looking white matching strap, it manages to pull off a children's watch vibe to me. We all know the cool watches associated with actual moon missions, so why white? Matches the space suits?

I didn't see any numbers regarding production, are they truly gone for good? I'm sure they'll be a decent to excellent investment if so.

I bet it looks pretty neat at night... too much change for my wallet though.

Evidently you are right WM.

Unless maybe the watches haven't been put up for sale yet.

You know how some times when the watches haven't been made yet
by the companies they will be listed as sold out? Or not in stock?

That could be it, or maybe they did sell out actually. ..In any case,
it's a great point on limited editions in general, but especially any
having to do with the Moon Landing. Could definitely see people
looking to flip these as soon as possible with the Anniversary !
