Default Crafter Blue's Hyperion Ocean 600m

Hey everyone, have you had time to see this new one in the works from
Crafter Blue?

The Hyperion Ocean 600m looks to be getting it's start on Kickstarter,
and will come in a choice of a steel or a PVD-coated steel bezel version.
Having details like a 45mm stainless steel case, 600m WR, sapphire
crystals, a helium relief valve, unidirectional rotating bezel, black dials
with luminous hands, and markers, and light blue accents, Sellita SW200
automatic within soft iron casing, and rubber straps.

Here is a look...

Monochrome with a lot more for you guys...

im just not feeling this brand as a whole.

their first watch, the 45mm mechanic ocean, was a standard 300mm diver with a seiko NH35 movement for over $500. (it was a lefty watch though, having the crown on the left side) I just dont see the msrp $600 value there when I just ordered a Helm watch with basically the same specs for $300. (unless you REALLY want that reverse crown position) overall though, I liked the design.

this new one, which will have a MSRP of $800, is a bit of an upgrade to the last watch with its 600m WR, SW200 movement, antimagnetic cage, and the often sought after "swiss made" logo on the dial.

granted, I do like the design, and i do like the fitted rubber strap....but NO bracelet? for $600 on early bird kickstarter?!?

i could see if it were rose gold or bronze...but regular stainless steel and no bracelet for that much money?
thats a hard pass from me, especially if it stays at the $800 release price.

unfortunately, I see this as yet another microbrand capitalizing on the general assumption that "swiss made" somehow means it is a better watch than its contemparies, or that 600m is better than 200m for us non-divers.

there are way to many options at $800 for me to seriously consider this brand.

if it hit the used market at $400-$500 maybe...but definitely not at $800.

Tom,

Thanks for the heads up on the CB.
While I do like the looks of their hardware the price seems a bit stout for what one pays. However, I saw on their site the mechanic ocean has been dropped to 510 on metal!

Love the look of all their pieces, maybe I will still try one! That Hyperion Ocean is very cool, but rocks a sw 200 inside..a departure from the NH35 based engine in the current pieces..

Best

Scott

Totally see where you guys are coming from !! I just saw them,
and had to report on them to everyone. ..Am overall liking them to be
honest, but they would look a lot more attractive if they weren't so
pricey. I mean I guess the specifications overall are impressive, and
it's nice how they have a couple versions. But you guys are right, the
price, and lack of a bracelet could be a deal breaker for many.

Thanks a ton just for giving your thoughts on these !
