They refute their own confirmation on Jan. 24 that they received your watch? Why is it they say they "cannot" get your watch, I mean what is the reason given?

Does FedEx not have any record of a delivery confirmation?

That's the odd thing. FedEx claims it was delivered. Steinhart claims they cannot get the watch from fedex. I recieved one email from Steinhart saying they got the watch. Then from a totally different person 1 or 2 days later from Steinhart they say they can't get it from fedex. Phoned fedex. Fedex says it was delivered. Emailed Steinhart. Told them this. Been over a week no response. And no response to phone calls.

I would open up a case with FedEx.

Wow, what an odyssey you've been on for the past +1 year!

I totally feel for you, Gino. I've been hit with my first frustrating mech-watch problem, and after spending what for you and me is a major amount to acquire it, the whole experience makes me want to say, "To hell with mechanicals all together! I'm buying Solars and Eco-Drives from now on!!!"

In a nutshell, the microbrand watch that I got on a kickstarter 3 years ago (from which I finally caught Watch Fever) started seizing up on me.

Much as you described, it would suddenly stop for no apparent reason, even after hours on the wrist or many hand cranks.

Fortunately, my small town has a watch repairman, so I took it to him. After a week of observing it, then opening it up, he found that the balance on its modified Miyota movement had not been oiled when it was assembled! He didn't dig down deeper into the movement to see what other parts may have been running dry for the past 3 years, but he said the damage was already done to the balance wheel.

So he got it running again, but it has "significant positional error," and I should expect around a +1 min./day accuracy. He said other than replacing the balance, and/or trying to get a hold of another movement for it--which would take quite a while to find--there's not much I can do about it.

I love that watch SOOOO much for its unique look and the sentimental value I've placed on it!

But I'm just so mad about the whole thing, I honestly don't have any desire right now to buy anything mechanical, unless it's Swiss, which means I'm pretty much limited to the Hamilton world--not a bad place to shop around in, though.

So, I'm wearing my Seiko Solar diver, and I've come to have a new appreciation for its dependability.

That's a bit longer than I intended. Sorry guys!

Good luck to you, Gino!

Keep on keeping us posted!

Persactly why I'm full on Quartz guy now.
Inasmuch as I still own 4 autos and 1 handcranker.
With a quartzie when it stops, it's probably a dead
soljer battery.

Esslingers sells batteries as low as a buck each. So
I buy doubles. Already have case back removal tool.

I hope it's not a serious movement issue but if it is the damn thing is getting replaced.

Going back to the issue of opening a claim with FedEx, there is no claim to open up. They confirmed that it was delivered. I also saw it was delivered via the tracker. I watched it the entire 3 days and never had an issue with three last time I shipped it to them.

The most concerning part is January 24 I received an email saying they got it from 1 person at steinhart. Then 2-3 days later I get another email saying they can't get through watch from a totally different person. Which is it? Also fedex said someone did recieved it and signed for it st steinhart so I don't think this is a fedex issue but more of a steinhart stupidity.

I will buy mechanicals again but from AD. That way I ever have an issue I can take it directly to them have them fix it under warranty or pay the price to have it fixed properly. I hope my movement isn't toast.

So what now? No watch? No FedEx claim to get your money back? No replacement or refund from Steinhart?

Tell FedEx that the company claims it wasn't delivered and you want to file a stolen item claim

I am starting to feel this way myself, although I have been lucky in that none of my mechanicals have broke down, yet.

The constant fiddling with the setting, re-setting and synching the time for the mechanicals is getting tiresome and I have ran out of space on the winders to keep 5 or 6 of them running.

The Quartz Breitling Colt Chrono has almost brough me full circle back to Quartz watches, especially with the hour jump hand were I can set the watch to different time zones without hacking the entire movement.

Now if Bulova could come up with some high quality case and bracelet models for their UHF line of watches, that would be something, and if Citizen could figure out how to incorporate their (Citizen owns Bulova) Eco-Drive into those movements, it would make the perfect watch.

Good news. Steinhart did receive the watch on January 24. Not sure why they told me two days later they did not. How I know this, my watch is being shipped via DHL today and is coming home.

Not sure what they did to fix it. I'm feeling they did the same thing as before which is only good of a fix for a year. Now that the watch is off warranty I'm going to, I hope not, get it fixed again in a year. If so, I'm going to be very upset and will need to find a local watch maker. This watch has caused me nothing but issues. But I love the damn thing.

I hope you are right. I have been nothing but patient. Hoping I don't have the issue again in a year. Warranty fix yearly with this watch and warranty is up now.

It appears you have found a company that has worse customer service than Invicta. But somehow manages to avoid crucifixion despite selling like 1/5000 of the amount of watches.
After all this, I would have demanded a new watch or my money back. That is if you could find somebody to talk to.

It's definitely a sad story. They are nice watches. They are more expensive than Invicta. I would never recommend this watch brand to anyone ever again. Based on what's happened in the past, in a year it'll need to be fixed again. When it does it'll be off warranty and howl fully a local guy can get it proper for me. Shouldn't be servicing and fixing this watch on a yearly basis in my opinion.

Shouldn't be servicing any watch that often. Good luck this time around.
Or maybe it will be time to schedule a vacation to Switzerland to visit the factory...lol !

Got my watch back. The invoice said Soprod replaced with new generation. I cannot tell the difference with the movement nor did I know there was a new generation nor do I know how to tell the difference or to tell if it's new at all. But they say it is. So I have a brand new movement.

Now on a side note and I hope someone can help;

I order some stuff from my Frat in the states. They made an error on the invoice. The invoice said I was suppose to get more stuff then that what was ordered. I paid more duty then I should have. The invoice was suppose to be 2 items as that's all I ordered. Instead they put 5 items on it. So therefore I was hit with more duty. How the hell do I fix this?

I pretty sure your out of luck.

You signed and walked off with the goods. I'd say your chances of getting a nickel out of customs is somewhere between zero and zilch.

Worst watch ever made and would never buy one again. If you have me one for free I wouldn't accept it.

My watch broke again. This time it won't wind up via hand cranking or wearing on my wrist.

This watch is now off warranty. Apparently last time they replaced the entire movement. Now does anyone know any good watch makers in my area of hamilton and Niagara Falls that could fix my watch at a reasonable price? Not happy about this at all. My seiko kinetic is far superior to this German/Swiss garbage.
