My Sony is on it's last leg after only 5-6 years and I need to purchase something else.  I've been shopping around and I've found many different brands out there.  Does anybody have some good advice for a good brand that is dependable and has all the qualities needed in an everyday TV?

I really don't want to spend more then $500 since most brands only have about a 5-6 year shelf life anyways.  I've looked at Vizio, Samsung, Sony, LG, and many others.  I will be hooking this up to my Digital Satellite receiver, my Onkyo Home Theatre, and my Sony DVD player.  If needed I will upgrade to an HDTV Satellite receiver for a better picture.  Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

Well normally Vizio is your best bang for your buck. Do you care about 720p vs 1080p? or 60hz vs 120hz?

first i would suggest to go bigger - 37" -if this is for the bedroom you can always pick up a 720p instead of 1080p

my bedroom tv went - it was one of thoses big 32" tube jobs - it was only about 6 yrs old - anywayz i got a sharp aquos 37" 720p about a year ago for about $600

they're probably lower now cause of the recession - but i would stick to a name brand rather than one of those cheapo brands -cause you do get what you pay for

Check out Sam's Club or Costco. They usually have a load of TVs for a reasonable price. For a 32" I wouldn't sweat the brand, at that size they'll all look pretty good.

Samsung is a great TV. I have a few of them and the picture quality is top notch. They are priced really good also.

my folks bought us a 1080p 37" Vizio for Xmas this past yr at WalMart (we all went over to tax-free NH to buy it :)) and it was just under $500. it's a great tv and Vizio employs hundreds of Americans, unlike Sony and some of the other Asian electronics companies. if employing U.S. workers is something that's important to you, look into them.

Thanks for all the advice my friends. I'm only looking for a 32" because it will go in our family room and has to fit inside an entertainment center. I've looked at both the 720p and the 1080p. I will be buying a bigger one for my basement later on this year. That one will be a full HDTV 1080p 120HZ and will most likely be a Samsung. I looked at the Vizio's and heard they are made by Sanyo. I will take a drive over to Costco and check out what they have. Thanks for all the input. Keep it coming.

Hey Brother, check out Walmart, I got a great deal on a 32" RCA. I believe I paid around $350.00 on Sale. Works great on the wall in my bedroom. Crisp clear HD too and does not get hot like my 42" plasma.

I just got back from Wal-Mart and they only have a 15 day return policy unlike Costco which has a 90 day return policy. I certainly got a good idea for what I'm looking for. Thanks Barry and Marc.

This is a great deal however I have a couple of concerns on this deal 1) It can't be returned without a 20% re-stocking fee if defective plus return shipping and 2) It's a Factory refurbished television
