Thanks to a Black Friday deal, Iam now second guessing my recent Oris Aquis Date purchase. I managed to purchase the Aquis preowned in excellent condition and I do love it. Right now its running 10-14 seconds slow per day :(

I have 7 1/4" wrists but long arms and big hands. I think the 43 mm is a pretty good fit, but feel like it wears just a tad smaller than I like. I snapped a few shots of the watch on my wrist and was curious if there are any other TT1 47mm wearer that think I could use the extra dims.

Its all subjective to taste, but proportionately is the TT1 secondhand drastically bigger?

I've already ordered the TT1 secondhand in black/orange, but really should decide before I get it next week to be fair to the seller.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

The TT1 really is not a whole lot bigger.
Though its 47mm it wears more like a 44-45 because of its case shape and smaller bezel.

I think the Aquis looks good on you, but its your watch.
Don't look for others opinions.... They don't matter. If you like it that's all that matters. If your not digging it, then get rid if it.

I have the 47mm TT1 (same as the one that is for sale today) and I have a 44mm (7750) version . You can see both in my gallery. I love them both but the 47mm one is awesome. One of my all time favorites.
I have also had 2 other non chrono 44mm TT1models.
Personally I find the 47mm models to be much larger and wear larger.

Aquis is a true 43.5mm , where the 47mm TT1 plays smaller like a 44 so you will see the two are not that much different.

Indeed, sound advice.

Your great review of the Aquis on the rubber strap is part of the reason I pulled the trigger (sight unseen). Ideally I'd take both (cant swing the $$$)! One for sport and one for the office. They are similar but do have a totally different presence. I've been wanting the TT1 black orange since I first saw it 2 years ago... perhaps thats part of my dilemma?

At the end of the day, I think that the Aquis is more refined and looks like its more at home in the office. The secondhand TT1 looks more rugged edgy and perhaps a little more unique. Mmmmm

What about the added weight of the second hand?

Ha yes, I have you to thank for making me aware of the sale!
Ultimately I might lean toward the 47mm but I just didn't want to carry around a watch that was prone to knocks etc.

I don't think the profile will be a problem, it was really a question of more weight. The Aquis feels nice on the wrist (weight wise) and its around 185 grams. The 47mm TT1 is 250 grams and on paper that sounds like a lot.
But you seem thrilled with it.

I'll have to echo TVDinner's sentiment on this one.  My first Oris diver was the 44mm chrono.  It was nice... but it just wasn't quite what I wanted.  Stepping up to the 47mm chrono was a huge improvement for me personally.  I also have a 7.25 - 7.5 wrist (varies between summer and winter) and big hands.  You could keep it and see if it grows on you, but mine never did.  I was able to sell the 44mm for what I had in into it and pay a little more for the larger version.  I love it.  I love all the big, chunky Oris divers... just not crazy about the smaller Aquis line.

I think in general folks on the forum wear watches that are too large for heir wrists, when I see their wrist shots, it makes me shake my head and laugh :) it's as though they have to show what they got more than for their own enjoyment or perhaps they need to compensate :)
I personally think the one you posted in your shots above looks like a large watch but fits your perfectly. CONGRATS, it looks great with a dressier feel than the TT1 i had.
Anything bigger would be overdoing it IMHO and would potentially be uncomfortable depending on case design and bracelet/strap fitting. The TT1 does wear a tad smaller than its size on paper so it may work better for you but its still a big watch nonetheless and your wrist is only 7 1/4". What is more important IMO is the L2L and thickness(and bubble vs flat case back ) but also your overall size. Smaller guys wearing larger watches look odd vs a bigger guy with smaller wrist wearing a large watch if that makes sense. Also if you wear dress attire for work, I don't care who you are, a 47mm, 16-20mm thick watch just looks out of place. I sit in meetings with guys in suits who wear large watches and they looks ridiculous, too much focus on the watch IMO. But who am I to judge if they like it.... If you dress casual it's less important I think.
So in the end it is a matter of taste so what do YOU like??
Try the regular TT1 for a while and live with it wearing it with dress and casual attire, see how it goes...

Same size wrist as me and I agree 1000000%.
I have had 3 (three) 44mm TT1 versions (all lume dial, black 3 hand, and 7750 chrono coke bezel (still have this one) and 1 of the 47mm ones.

I don't care what anyone says - the 47mm one wears a lot larger and I personally like it a lot more.
The main reason I still have the 7750 coke bezel one is that I love the colors and with the pushers on both sides of the case it wears larger then the 44mm size.

There is nothing wrong with the 44mm versions, but they wear smaller and like a 43mm (or smaller). NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS - just not my personal preference.

The 47mm wears LIKE A 45-46MM size. And remember - this is a big and heavy and chunky watch that is totally unique with nothing else like it. Great weight and look on wrist.

Of course in the end it is personal preference for each and you have to like what you strap on your wrist each day

47mm TT1

44mm TT1 - 7750

44mm All Lume Dial one -

That 44 mm Lume looks perfect on your wrist James. Right size seen from that angle.

size is personal. i agree with Brice that there are some disproportionately large watches on wrists out there, but it comes down to what you want and not what i want.

personally, i have 8.25" wrists and even bigger hands than yours. i've gone from only wanting 45mm+ watches a couple yrs ago to being most happy in the 42-45mm range presently.

good luck and welcome to the forum, from a guy an hr and half north of you (near Portsmouth, NH) :c

Thanks for this discussion guys.
Jeep99dad, made some spot on points about not over doing it. I also identify with Dave0013.

I think I am more conflicted over the size on this one since it is a higher end purchase for me. I didn't want to have doubts a couple months down the road thinking... damn wish I went bigger or that its too dressy. I have a feeling finally owning a nicer automatic is going to be the start of a dangerous obsession. Also your points about it being dressier are true. I don't wear suits at work and being a designer I am granted a certain bandwidth of being a little funky :) The Aquis is definitely at home in the office and IMO is in the same realm as a Rolex submariner. I have the Citizen Promaster (47mm) diver and the Caliber 2100 (45mm).and they both look at home on my wrist. The promaster has been a real fav.

TVdinner all your shots look great, but I think the bigger story is how the watch looks as part of the whole arm (forearms etc). You look like you have more muscle mass than me. My problem is that I've been more of a office jockey over the last few years and have lost some mass. :)

I'm with Brice. Looks perfect on your wrist, no need to go bigger. Love the Aquis too. Oris came up with a winner with that one.

Thanks Shaggy. I have to admit its really starting to grow on me.
I should be getting the TT1 in the next day or two and I already have a friend agreeing to buy it from me if I decide to change direction.

Its really classic looking and the re-worked bracelet really looks stunning.
I hope I don't really love the small seconds, because I know I'll want both.
