I am looking to purchase a vintage watch. This one is at the top of my list. I have done lots of internet research and cant find anything on this watch. Can someone help me identify the watch and rough estimate of what its worth. Thank you.

Hey Watchrookie,
Welcome to the forum.
Ill tell you what i am able to about your watch. If you feel comfy with the idea, some pictures of the movement will tell me alot more about your watch. With out that, i can only guess as to what exactly is in your watch.

That all said ...
I found a few different watches in my collectors books Movado section that are very similar to yours.I found one i THINK is yours, though the crown on the watch that is shown in my book is thicker. Otherwise , It looks exactly like yours.
Even if it is not the exact same model, your Movado was likely made in the 1940's. Knowing the movement type and getting the numbers off of it will firm up the exact time of making. I would guess that your watch was made around 1947.
Your watch likely has a 17 jewel swiss manual wind movement in it . I most likely is NOT one of their ultra expensive "curvi-plan" or "polyplan" movements.
But the movement in it is a real work horse, probably a 50sp or a 260m variant . It has the sub seconds hand located at 6 o clock.
The value of your watch is largely determined by if the watch works or not.
You watch looks to be in very good used condition, perhaps midrange .In average used condition, the watch would normally sell for around 300.00 US. Mid range, great to excellent used condition goes for around 400.00 US. And in like new condition, it goes for 500.00.

If you can get some movement pics posted i can give better info.
Thanks
Rod

Rod,
Thank you for the invaluable insight. I contacted the gentleman whom I am considering buying the watch from. He has not gotten back to me with the details about the movement and serial number. I just wanted to say thank you.

Brant
