Hello WatchFreeks,
Today my friends and me completed our Watchproject called "Galeón 2000m".

It's an homage to the spanish sailing ships of the 16th century.

The cases we used for this watch where made by the german Watchunion group and are well know from boutique watchbrands like Kemmner and others.

The stock gaskets where replaced by ones made of Viton.

At the begining we planned to use Seagull movements (to keep the budget low), but then finally decided to go for Eta 2824-2 with decorated rotors.

Than we redesigned the dials...

And applied three layers of Superluminova C3/Orange

Once the assembling was finished, all movements where regulated to COSC-like parameters

For more roughness, we spend them also schock-and vibration absorbtion rings.

The engraved caseback are our biggest proud...

A local strapmaker supplied those fine leatherstraps and buckles

And here some more pics of the completet units (only three where made)...hope you like them.

Thank you for reading and kindest regards from spain.

Angelo

Impressive work angelo! I really like that the detail in the numbering "uno de tres" its the same for the 3 watches. Too bad you are not making any more.

Cool project! Not understood about c3/orange and three layers... You mix different colors to get the right shade? Or put layers of different colors?

The lume is made by using Superluminova C3 and orange Superluminova mixed together and than applied three layers.

I love the color combos , and the overall look of the watches.
Might i suggest you play a little with different looks , in keeping with the name , and diving heritage ?
Perhaps some use of wood , or a wood veneer , watch dial , to give it a rustic look ? MAybe pay some homage to old time divers watches too , with faded retro dials and colors , on stainless mesh ?

Very Very nice work! I know as is the case with most homages the dial may read 200m or 2000m but in reality it is strictly for design purposes. I notices in your pictures that you have a helium escape valve so I was curious if these watches were actually tested for the 200ATM pressure requirements, or is this strictly aesthetics for the dial design? Either way very beautiful design and construction. Plus you even crafted a beautifully executed wooden display box. Looks like you may have a prototype on your hands.

Gorgeous macro! Thick layer of lume is clearly visible. If it is not a secret, do you apply lume through a stencil or in some other ways?

Thank you sir, the lume is applied by hand using a watchmaker oiler.

those are two pics made during the prototype-lume tests:
