Hi folks, just received this Orient. I believe it is from around 2005 maybe someone here knows the exact date of manufacture or knows where to find out. The watch is a self winding Orient in house Caliber 469 movement it cannot be wound via the winder. This is a pity as the Orient takes a bit of winding to get going and to keep accurate time. I wore it for around 8 hours and then changed it for another watch in the evening. The Orient had lost 15 minutes. I wore it again after resetting it and it continued to lose until I swung it back and forth then while wearing it, it has kept perfect time. that is my only gripe about the watch, as you can see from the pics it is quite a handsome beast.
Cheers Brian

Just curious - If it's a self-winding watch, how can it not be wound in the winder?

I have several Orient automatic watches with the 469 movement. The watch is only wound with the internal rotor by movement. There is no winding capability from what looks like the winder at the three position this only alters the hands and day the button at the top changes the date the bottom button rotates the inner bezel. This is similar to the early Seiko 6119 caliber watches with the recessed buttons.
Cheers Brian

You are calling the stem the winder. Most call a box that rotates a winder. This type of winder simulates the movement of your wrist to wind an automatic watch such as yours.

In the UK the stem is called the winder. It goes back to manual wind watches hence winder. The Orient 469 movement does not wind via the stem only by movement of your wrist.Cheers Brian

Gotcha! Some cross-cultural miscommunication there. Yes, many Orient movements cannot be manually wound. It's the one thing I don't like about mine as well, but otherwise I love mine, so it's easy to overlook. I like your watch.
