I am interested in buying the Citizen Attesa ATV53-2931 (see pic below- also same as model JY8000-50E) but seems like I'll need to buy from Japan, from what I see browsing internet and Ebay. I do see some rated as Top sellers on Ebay. Should I just buy from there, or has anyone here have direct experience with a purchase? I also worry about other costs like customs, etc.  This watch will be in the $1100 to $1300 range.

Thanks for any advice.

Paul

I have heard superchrono is good to deal with, and they have it for $950.

Thanks. I thought I found some bad reviews about this site, too? Has anyone dealt with Superchrono?

Thanks,

Paul

I see on 21jewels the following statement,

"Packaging: ATV53-2931is New with manual and warranty but No Box"

Is the omission of a box something to worry about, or does it make for mroe efficient shipping package on their end?

I wouldnt worry about.. Im sure it will be packaged very well.

as long as it has warranty, that is the biggest thing to me.

Your going to wear the watch, not the box....my opinion.

I did find this note on 21jewels FAQ page,

Some items do not come with boxes, how are these packed for shipment?
All items will be securely packed in an outer box filled with foam packing materials prior to shipping.

Maybe they are the one to go with, and at a good price too!

Thanks again, Tatoo Chef. They have a 1 year international warranty. How do import taxes work. I am in Massachusetts, USA. Will there be an additional tax or charge I'll need to pay somewhere along the way?

It depends.
I have had items shipped from Singapore and China, and have not had any import taxes.

If you do, you will get a bill in the mail from whoever the delivery service is...most likely fedex.

The thing is, you wont know until after you recieve the watch, and its usually a week after you will get something in the mail, if you owe customs tax.

I understand now. Thanks again for your help, and sorry for the rapid line of questioning. I just want to make sure I am making a safe purchase.
