Hey Freeks,
I got this little honey a few months back in a box full of watches from a pawn shop deal i made.
It was an orphan , and it needed alot of work. When i first took it apart, i found that it had some cracked jewels in the movement . It wasnt badly cracked , but i didnt want to chance ruining pinions rubbing against the broken jewel. So i set out to find replacement parts to repair this interesting watch. I came across the same movement {caliber 335} in another dead watch at a later time.
So i basically stripped 2 movements down to base parts , and rebuilt to one nice movement . It keeps time well, and looks really nice.
Im likely going to make a band that will fit me for it, as the original band was no where near big enough for me.
Here it is, a 1953 Gruen Barclay mens watch. Nicknamed "spider" because of its unusual ornate gold case. Its a all american made watch . It sports a 21 jewel movement , 335 caliber , in a rolled gold in house gruen made case.

That looks great. One of the first watches my parents gave me as a kid was a gruen. Early in the 60's.

Yup , sometimes the ugliest watches show signs of life, and they inspire me to want to make them work. Like somehow they are trying so hard to work, they just need someone to help them.
