stopped by one of my old hunting grounds today and saw this montblanc gmt auto for sale. I was curious to know if anyone could tell me how to spot a fake. The watch looks legit but the price has me skeptical. The back of the watch has limited edition out of 1000 and the numbers 4810 501. 27 jewels. montblanc meisteruck. it also has meisterstuck on the side.Any help would be great.

A picture would help a lot.If its a chrono GMT it should have 25 jewels.I found a 2009 version 4810.503 and it has 25 jewels with a ETA 7754.

The 4810 501 is the movement caliber. It has 27 jewels in the movement. You can check here http://www.watchtime.com/watch-database/ On the left is the manufactureres. I can't find the meisteruck, so I'm assuming it's an old model. Happy hunting

Its a limited edition and if its real it may be the deal of the year.List is $5k+ but I would have it checked out at an AD for verification. There will be fakes out there.Good luck!

Cross-reference the watch. Mont Blanc's website features each model of their watch. Use the website's zoom feature to study the details of the watch face, band and case. Study the characteristics listed for each watch. For example, The Mont Blanc Timewalker Automatic is listed as having a continuous second hand and an alligator skin strap band. If the Timewalker you're investigating has a ticking hand and a metal strap -- chances are it's a fake.
