Hey all,
Its another slow day in Missouri. So i got out a old ladies pocket watch i was given a while back. No maker name on its face, though it is marked swiss at bottom of its face. The movement is marked "lotus" . Its a old finger bridge style watch. Wrist watch style keyless works. Its a 7 jewel.
The case is a wadsworth rambler case, 20 year rolled gold , in rose gold color. When i got it , it had no crystal , and its face and hands were brown and nasty.
I sourced a crystal for it.
Then i took it apart, down to its base. I found alot of wear in its pivot holes, where normally jewels would be. Literally the INSIDES were cupped where it should be dead flat. Before when i first wound the watch , it would only run in one position well, and would stop at the slightest bump.
Basically , the watch is on its last legs. After i cleaned it and reassembled it with some slightly heavier oil, and it runs well. Its keeping time decently at the moment. It doesnt die like it did before when you change positions. But if you bump it hard enough , it will stop briefly.
it may not be a perfect watch. But it runs now. It was good practice, as it was swiss and old,and small, it was a moderately difficult cleaning.
I have seen Elgin watches that look just like this. I have never heard of Lotus watches before. Has anyone else ?
Thanks
Rod

Heres a pic of the watch after cleaning. I cleaned and polished the silveroid parts of the bridges so they would shine.
