Going to the Stainless bezel from the PVD or previous plastic versions is definitely an upgrade!:c

Baselworld 2012: TAG Heuer Formula 1 (preview)

TAG Heuer has released a preview of their new Formula 1 collection which will be officially presented at Baselworld 2012 in March. The new collection consists of 3-hand, chronograph and alarm models.

Originally introduced in 1986, the first Formula 1 collection used fiberglass-coated cases and mineral glass crystal. The current collection uses much more premium stainless steel cases with brushed and polished surfaces, and sapphire crystal glass. Depending on the model: titanium-carbide coated steel or stainless steel with aluminium/ ceramic insert. The models with a titanium-carbide coated bezel have a matching black crown, while the stainless steel models have a polished stainless steel crowns. Bezels are fixed and the chronograph and alarm and rotating on the 3-hand models.

All Formula 1 models come in 42 mm diameter cases and use Ronda quartz movements, a move away from ETA. Hands are classic polished sword hands and dials come in either black or white. All models are water resistant to 200 meters.

Retail $1,280-$1,920

Actually, they are not pvd or plastic.  The bezels are Titanium Carbide over steel.  Tough as nails.
