Just came across this. I subscribe to yeoman's blog. Can't beat following a guy on the ground in Asia who gets to see all the new releases months before they hit the US Market.

I'm liking this one, especially with the dash of color. Size is a respectable 43mm and he says it comes in different color variants. Unfortunately though no solid end links. :(

I really like the dial but FEL is a deal breaker.

Yeh...I don't know what they were thinking. Every Seiko diver I have bought to date with a bracelet had SELs.

Solid end links is relatively new on metal watch bracelets so far as I know. My 1961 Rolex GMT Master has folded end links both on the original band, which was folded link construction, and on the upgrade factory Rolex solid link band I bought later.

So far at least most Seiko Solar watches have been at the less expensive end of Seikos price range. If true of this one then it might explain the end link construction choice.

that's a helluva watch on a black Isofrane :c

i think Jake mentioned in a WUS thread they ran about $350US in HK. i'd reserve judgement on the end links til i've seen them. i see one staying on an Isofrane anyway..

From purely a looks standpoint that is a very nice looking watch to me. I like the look, layout, and colors a lot.

I really like the look of this watch, especially the other 2 variations with the red and yellow accents.

Dissapointed with the end links though and would be unwilling to drop $300 + on a watch with a weak point on the bracelet (IMO). The 7T92 complication would also have been nice (with 12 hour and 1/20th seconds counters) as I don't find the 24 hour sub dial at the 3 o'clock useful.

it would cease to be a Solar with a 7t92, Ken :pk :lol

i know what you're saying about dial layout, tho. they definitely could have taken the great subdial layout from the 7t92 and used that as a basis for this.

Was going thru the rounds this morning posting on the WRUW threads and goodole airwatch on WUS posted his

I'm really liking the black and yellow combo...and I have to assume since it solar, this thing is going to be very affordable. Need to swap to a rubber strap and it will be good to go.

It looks sharp but is not "affordable" enough for my tastes at a reported price of apprx. $350

$350? Yeeesh...yes that is too expensive. I have hope though..hopefully it will be cheaper via grey dealers when they finally reach the US.

Pepsi version is not for me; seems too July 4th. Like the black / yellow though, but still a little pricey for me.

Forgot to ask. What are the solid end links, FEL, and the differences? Advantages? Thanks.

The end links are the links in the bracelet that connect to the case of the watch. Solid end links are made of a solid piece of metal, where as "FEL" (Folded End Links) are made of s thin sheet of metal and then folded.

Solid End Links will be a little more secure since the spring bar is being held in place by a solid piece of metal versus 2 points on a folded end link.

IMO, fit is better too. A solid end link is specifically made to butt up against the lugs and case of the watch, making for an almost seamless fit...sort of like 2 pieces of a puzzle fitting exactly together. Whereas a folded end link somewhat rests against the case of the watch and can sometimes make a lot of rattling noise when you wear your watch.

Here's a solid end link

Folded End Link
