BTW I ordered the Suppa adapters yesterday and just received shipment notification today, shipment from the USA. A USPS shipment tracking number was provided.

Cool.... they dramatically change the look and the feel of the watch. I put on Walt's Adapters, but I did also order the Suppa's (never put these on). One recommendation: The screws to take of the mounting flange around the rubber straps can be VERY difficult to remove (severe scratch hazard or worse where you strip the screws and can't remove). My recommendation is to take it into a watchmaker and let them use their tricks of the trade. Your 'zilla will thank you. I ground a Wiha 4mm hex bit to an exact fit with the Citizen screw slots, mounted the watch in my watch holder and then it turned out that the screws on my watch were not too tight at all! Using very close fitting screwdrivers on slotted screws can prevent a lot of buggered up screws. Something I was taught by a gunsmith friend years ago.

I ended up ordering the Suppa adapters and the Tungchoi Super Engineer band. The Suppa adapters are shipped with screw-in type band mounting bars, similar to those used by Panerai on their watches. The bars on the Supppa adapters are much smaller diameter than the Super Engineer bands spring bar mounting holes which are for 2.5mm spring bars. To get everything to fit together with minimal clearances I ended up ordering a set of Panerai 24mm long band mounting tubes from Panatime. The tubes were a slight interference fit in the Super Engineer band end lugs and a good but still with clearance fit over the Suppa adapter band mounting bars. Why cannot the watch and band industry agree on spring bar and watch band mounting lug diameters? For mens watches there seem to be diameters of 1.5mm, 1.78mm, 2mm and 2.5mm commonly used and many watch bands do not specify what diameter bars they are intended for. I have also seen 1.2mm and 1.3mm spring bars listed and one version of the Super Engineer band claims to take 3mm diameter spring bars.

Another excellent watch band for use with the Suppa adapters is the DeBeer Breitling Navitimer style 24mm solid link band. The ends are the correct diameter to fit the Suppa adapters without modification or additional parts. Very good quality for the price IMO with machined steel "Z" toggle closure pieces rather than stamped parts. A bit thinner and lighter than the Tungchoi Super Engineer band. http://www.amazon.com/Breitling-Navitimer-Style-Solid-Metal/dp/B003P8BKQM/ref=sr_1_3?s=watches&ie=UTF8&qid=1328341445&sr=1-3 For normal watches it takes 1.5mm diameter spring bars. 1.78mm ones are too big to fit.

Gentlemen, I'm about to purchase this beast of a watch, and would like to toss the rubber strap in favor of a SS bracelet. I have three questions. 1. For those who own the watch or have seen it up close, would a brushed or polished bracelet better match the case? Judging from photos, I'm assuming brushed. 2. I was about to order a Tungchoy Super Engineer bracelet for the Ecozilla before reading in this thread that the bars on the Suppa adapter are much smaller than the 2.5mm holes in this bracelet. I've never changed a bracelet myself before, so, my question is, how big of a deal is that? Will it cause a "wearing" problem? If it's not ideal, can anyone recommend an alternative to the Tungchoy bracelet that would better pair with the Suppas? 3. Speaking of which, does anyone actually know the bar diameters on the Suppas? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide. Looking very forward to becoming an Ecozilla owner!

Would these tubes be appropriate used in conjunction with a 2.5mm Super Engineer bracelet? http://www.panatime.com/24stst316tus.html Thanks again.

Helly Scotty. Sorry just saw these posts. They probably got lost in the shuffle, instead of you starting a new thread. Anyways, brushed bracelet would be what to go with for the Ecozilla. As far as the suppa adapters, I am not sure what the diameter is on them. But I have seen many with the Ecozilla with a watchadoo bracelet, same look as the Super Engineer, but cheaper. Granted, not as thick and heavy as the Super Engineer, but its also only $50. They have them in 20mm, 22, and 24. http://www.ebay.com/itm/22mm-Heavy-Steel-Watchadoo-Brushed-Divers-Band-Bracelet-incl-2-5mm-FAT-bars-/140781857270?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20c740a9f6

I have a 24mm Watchadoo with fat bars on my EcoZilla and have no fit problems with the pins. My wrist is 7 1/4" and I have no fit problems with the bracelet itself.I also have a Yobokies 20mm hammer for my Seiko kinetic, they are both execellent bracelets. The Yobokies hammer has Seiko on the clasp and the Watchadoo is sterile. Just ordered a 22mm Watchadoo for my Deep Blue ProTac 1K. Last edited on Fri Aug 31st, 2012 11:55 pm by rmeron |
