I am not the biggest Panerai fan and have never owned one. I probably never will. But there is one model that whenever I see pictures of I immediately go "wow". I have had this picture saved on my computer FOR YEARS.

To me this is a stunningly beautiful watch.

The Panerai Luminor Chrono 44mm - PAM162 from Baselworld 2003. It came out before the current Daylight models and I like it BETTER then those. I love the bezel look, subdial background color, numbers on the dial instead of lines, etc.

Info on this model -

This is the first 44mm automatic Chronograph and the predecessor to the current Daylight chronographs. Only 1500pcs were ever made with grey counters on the dial & it is the only Panerai to be sold with a special Montegrappa pen & stylus that is numbered to match the watch.Other than that, the dial on this model is "cleaner" compared to the current editions as it does not have the additional "Daylight" word which is associated with same named Sylvester Stallone's movie. It is also the only one till date that has a two tone dial which is very easily recognized.

Movement     Mech. auto winding movt. ETA/Vajoux Ca.7750, 25 jewels, 28800vph. COSC Chronometer certified. Signed & numbered.
Dimensions     44mm X 54mm X 17mm
Glass     Sapphire crystal
Case     Cushion style, AISI 316L brushed steel case. Polished bezel with tachymetric scale. Screw-in back with patented locking device on crown guard.
Dial     Black with full luminous Arabic nos & hour batons. White signature, markings & min divisions. 3 registers in grey. Date aperture @ 4.5. (quick-set via corrector on case @ 10).
Straps     Fitted with orig. black croco L/strap & a signed steel deployant buckle.
Hands     Steel & filled with luminous + registers. Steel sweep centre seconds.
Functions     Automatic, time & stopwatch with date

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PANERAI MODEL?

I'm attracted to any of the Panerai Luminor 1950 series watches.

I'll never own one, unless I win the Megabucks.

I will probably never own one...but so far, I haven't seen a Panarai that I haven't liked. I like them all...just love that square style cushion case and the clean dials. It' s the main reason I went above my normal budget, sold 3 watches to get the Magrette Reagattare...poor man's Panarai with it's own flavor :c

My Fav is indeed the one i bought..
PAM 312, 1950 case, in house movement, Date and subseconds, which as stupid as it may sound is pretty uncommon for many Panerai as they will have no seconds or no date many models.

If it is gonna be a favorite Panerai it has to be 40mm in size since that is the only size Panerai I would wear.

Officine Panerai Luminor Marina PAM 00048.

It's gotta be a 47mm. If someone offered me my choice of any Panerai at no cost to me, to have and hold, it would be the 203...

My favourite out of my PAM's would be the 127 (it's probably as close to a 203 that I will ever own)...

Cheers,

Rob

I like just about all of them but prefer the GMT models... If they all cost the same this would be my choice:

Okay, I just got back from an AD in Orlando and for the first time was able to try on a 44mm and a 40mm PAM.  For my 6.75 inches wrist, 40mm is the PERFECT case size.  Having said that, can anyone tell me the difference between the PAM 298 and PAM 050 other than the bracelet design.

The PAM 298 retails for $7900.  Production years:  2009 to current.  Movement:  CALIBRE OP III.

The PAM 050 retails for $8600.  Production years:  1999-2008.  Movement:  CALIBRE OP III.

THanks in advance for all the replies.

Gerald

Since Panerai is now playing their own version of "substitute the movement", why bother. Better to simply buy a Chinese made Parnis or Marina knock off and pocket the savings. Most folks won't know the diff anyway and won't care either. Tell Sly "Good Bye". :l
