I, like most of you I'M SURE, love the hunt..... so, here is what I'm down to for now!

Jellyfish - Not sold on the dial for some reason, love the case, size, bracelet, lume, movement.

Armida - with discount can go A-1 (still may be too heavy though) or the new A-2 (worried it looks TOO much like the Sub for me) but the sizing seems good.  Also, on the A1 I'm not sure it will fit an oyster style bracelet?  Has anyone tried to put one on it yet??

Love the DIAL and lume of the DB Daynight t100 but after some research, too heavy...

I've had a SKX007 before and for some reason it just didn't get worn.  I know.... I have a problem.

Wearing the A-1 right now , it is bigger and thicker than the Tortuga.......def heavier, so based on your first post, I would not thing this would be a good option.

I dont think the A-2 really looks like the SUB....its hands and markers are alot different, and the lume is off the chart.

you are correct....DB daynight ...too heavy for what you are looking for.

As Erik suggested above, tons of Seiko models out there that can be found.

I understand why companies use a sub dial, but I feel like it's been too overused and I wish more companies were different. It's a nice sub wannabe, no doubt.

I think you might have more difficulty finding a quality diver if the Tortuga is too heavy. I just weighed mine on the strap at 4 and 1/4 ounces (which is about 120 grams). That is pretty light nowadays.

Seriously, if that weight is an issue, you might want to focus on titanium. The Casio Protrek series in titanium will probably come in a little lighter than that but 120 grams, I'm sorry to have to tell you, is way low on the heaviness factor of divers today.

Thanks Mesh! Good info.... I've had MANY a diver though and generally don't have much trouble.... maybe the rounded case back is what is messing with me?!

Again.... I love the watch. But when I put it on a Nato it tends to move around quite a bit more than others I've owned... appears to be too heavy but maybe it is the shape that is making it migrate.

OR maybe I need to stop with the Bulleit whiskey.... JK.... kind of.

I put my Stolas Harbormaster Spinnaker on the NATO strap tonight and I almost couldn't even tell it was on. Didn't move at all. I don't wear my watches very tight so I was worried about movement with the NATO. No problems.

Probably the most comfortable watch/bracelet combo I've worn are:

And a very close '3rd' considering the watch's size:

or on strap:

or for a really lightweight watch: titanium!!!!

or EcoDrive

I have found for a really top heavy watch, the best strap to secure it is the ISOFrane. It is grippy so you don't have to have it as tight as a NATO, leather strap, or bracelet. These first two required the ISO cuz the bracelet could not be sized to fit my wrist:

So I would try an ISOFrane on the Tortuga before flipping it. YMMV.

Thanks for the heads up on the ISO.... I do love that strap but it's a bit spendy for a rubber strap!!?? Looks awesome though on the Halios... I think that was the first one pictured w the ISO strap...

Yes, it is expensive. But once you try it, you will see why it is worth every penny. The first picture is a Holotype, yes.

I was in the same boat as you but after perusing this and several other forums, as well as visiting several local stores, I bought a Seiko SKX007 with a Jubilee band off of eBay.  After having it a day I ordered a Super Oyster II from wjean28 on eBay.  I love the watch as is and I'm sure will love it even more with the new bracelet.  When all is said and done I will have about $250 invested opposed to the $700 a Marathon TSAR with bracelet would've cost.

I'm a happy camper!

No moves yet..... I'm still fighting off the urge to jump at something else.  Per some of the earlier posts I have ordered an Isofrane strap and it should be here in the next couple of days.

I will let you guys know if the ISO fixes some of my 'wrist migration' issues or not!  I am still entertaining ideas for alternatives though!!  It seems that many of us Freeks are interested in divers in this price range!
