I have one of the Elysee watches and am wondering if it is indeed German? The one that I have is an automatic with 35 jewels. It has Elysee Automatic Retrograde on the dial. On the back of the watch, this is stated; All stainless steel 49015 Elysee Dusseldorf/Germany 3 atm Water Resistant. One the rotor is states, 35 Jewels It is a dual time watch and it has Dusseldorf Germany at the lower 6 o'clock position...The watch keeps excellent time I have been told that this is a watch that is made in Asia and not in Germany. Does anyone know anything about this brand and where they are made? Any help with this will be appreciated... Ron B

The truth about these watches is probably a company secret as is with many so called "Swiss Made" brands... They make some pretty expensive stuff. My bet is that they use base "ebauche" movements that are made in China then modify them to suit the application... Add the escapements, rotors/decoration and then finish the cases which may or may not be made there... "Assembled in Germany" would be more appropriate...IMHO Last edited on Tue May 17th, 2011 12:15 pm by BigTime738 ____________________ Omega, Glycine, Movado, ESQ, Tag Heuer, Tissot, Zodiac, Victorinox, Bulova, Orient, Seiko, Debaufre, Steinhart, Hexa, Xezo... |

Thanks for the link. I agree, many companies that advertise "german " made are just shells for selling other countries watches.
