BURBANK, Calif. -- The Walt Disney Co. has trademarked "SEAL TEAM 6," the name of the elite special operations forces team that killed Usama bin Laden, according to a new report.

Disney's trademark applications for "SEAL TEAM 6" cover clothing, footwear, headwear, toys, games and "entertainment and education services," according Mediabistro.com.

The entertainment giant completed the application on May 3 -- only two days after news broke that the secretive military unit killed bin Laden.

The US Naval Special Warfare Development Group, otherwise known as "DEVGRU" and "SEAL Team Six" is one of a small number of secretive highly-skilled counterterrorism units.

I am sure there have been movies in the making since 911. Not sure if I would ever pay to see one.

Does that mean that Disney can sue the SEALs now.

Really?

It saddens me a little that Disney was so quick to do this, assuming their only objective is to make money. I suppose they could donate part of each shirt, hat, whatever else they are going to sell. That said, it might change my feelings on this a little. But not much. I'm happy the creep is dead, but those Seals do not do what they do for glory. They are true patriots, the highest level athletes in our country, who volunteer three times, and spend three years in training that we can't imagine, to finally be part of a Seal team. They do this because they believe in our country and what it stands for and are willing to die in a moment for their brothers and their country. God pity the folks who try to make them make that sacrifice.
I worked for five months in Viet Nam with a Seal team, our boat played mother to them, inserted them, picked them up, and provided any support we could in their operations in both north and south Viet Nam. I have no more respect for anyone in this country than the Seals. They are the most special people I have ever had the honor of serving with. Sorry for the long response, but I have a very deep and visceral reaction to this kind of thing.
