Above 55mm is too big,,,although I rarely wear any of mt 50mm+ watches.
I think below 44mm is too small. Can do 44mm, IF the bracelet is 24mm.

FOR ME - I have a very tight watch size range as of late.

To small is under 44mm
To large is above 48mm

I measure all of my watches INCLUDING the crown.

My perfect watch size is 46-48mm that includes crown.

Its all personal preference.
Years ago, I wore 40mm -42mm watches all the time, Seiko, Citizen, Luminox, Pulsar, and what I bought online and what was available in department store.

Then I found shopnbc, the internet, and a whole new world of watches.
Shop brought me to Invicta, among others, and the 45-50mm watches.

For 2 years, all I wore was 48-50mm watches, and If I put a 45mm on the wrist, it looked small.

In the past 2 years, I got myself down to smaller watches, I.E, smaller than 50mm.

I find my absolute  sweet spot to be 45mm with a 22 or 24mm lug/bracelet width.

I can go 47mm comfortably and down to 44 comfortably, and I like a thickness of at least 14mm usually, but I am totally midrange bewteen 44-46mm totally, and dont see it ever changing again. I have been wearing watches and into watches for about 15 years, and have come into my sweet spot, and what I like , beyond what anyone else says.

Too big is easy...47mm is it, anything bigger is too big for me. Too small is not so easy...I collect vintage stuff so wearing anything down to 34mm is OK. I turned down a Mint 50's Rolex because it was 33.5mm (good price too!)In modern day stuff I am not buying anything under 40mm (most are 42-46mm anymore), but will still wear 37mm or 38mm if I already own it.

Too big, too small ?

I enjoy each watch for what it is, as SixtySix has pointed out vintage pieces are generally smaller, but that's the style...

36mm on 8 1/2 inch wrist...

47mm on same...

and seriously considering 60mm...

It's all about enjoying the watch for what it is.

Best,

Rob

38 mm is too small for my liking. So far have not experienced too big but I suspect 48-50 mm.

All depends on the pin to pin length but

To big: over 46mm

To small: under 38mm

6 1/2" wrist :(

Well...with my XXXXXL wrist....the largest I wear is my Corduba Ibiza Diver and my Russian Divers....both in the 53-55mm range.  Most of my collection of newer watches are 46mm and above.  I do have some 40-44mm watches....but they are dress watches. My Vintage watches are small...as expected, but doesn't stop me from wearing them occasionally.  I love wearing my dad's 1940's Elgin and my 1920 Bulova....which is more the size of a ladies watch at maybe 25mm's wide.

This picture shows the size difference between my 1940's Elgin, my 1980's Seiko...not a whole lot of size difference in 40 years....and my 2009 48mm Invicta.

My Russian Diver.....

My Corduba Ibiza...

So...my smallest I'll wear....on a daily basis...probably 46mm.  But like I said...if I am in the mood to wear something different...I'll wear just about any size man's watch from any era.
