Background on how watch was obtained:

This watch was purchased, by me, from the CGA Company.  Thomas Carey is the CGA representative and a member at http://www.watchfreeks.com.  Please check out Thomas and CGA if you are in the market for a Lum-Tec, Luminox, Prometheus or Fitzroy.  Thomas took great care of me during the purchase process.  As a forum member I'm sure he will be available for after sale support.  Not to mention CGA carries some very fine products.

This watch was acquired from Thomas Carey of The CGA Company.

First Impression:

I have been looking at acquiring a 24 hour watch for a long time.  I feel in love with the military look of the Lum-Tec Combat B4 the first time I saw it and it did not disappoint out of the box.  It was well packed in a first rate inner and outer box.  When I finally got it out of the packaging I just starred at it for several minutes.  It is unique and there is no doubt that you are looking at something very different the first time you see it.  The watch stuck me as larger then the 43mm listed size as it is all dial and just a very thin bezel.  Once it was on my wrist I spent the rest of the day retraining my brain to read the time.  It does take some getting used to.

The Packaging and Watch Box:

Case : Crown Side:

Case : non-crown side:

Dial and Hands:

I think this is a perfect match of dial and hands.  I wouldn't change a thing.

Case Back:

Nothing out of the ordinary except the 096/100 stamped on the back.  This designates the uniqueness of this piece.

Wrist Shot:

Comparison Shots With Other Watch:

Ball NightTrain                                      Lum-Tec Combat B4 ---                     Glycine Incursore

Lume Shot: (or as I refer to it the "Money Shot")

The lume is very bright on this piece as is to be expected.  The lume below is shown after a full charge under a bight light.  The lume lasts a long time but of course the duration of the lume does not or cannot match tubes.

SUMMARY:

I have had this watch for a week now.  I am very happy with my choice.  The movement in this piece is a Swiss quartz and, as much as I like automatics, the quartz does not take anything away from this piece.  In fact, the more I thought about it the more it seemed that a quartz was appropriate for the military style of this piece.  It is comfortable to wear.  The fit, finish and quality of this piece are exceptional.

Today I was stopped while shopping and by a guy who spotted the Lum-Tec on my wrist and just had to stop me and ask me about it.  That does not happen with all watches.

I will move this watch into the regular rotation immediately.  It may not be worn to work often, but it will find regular wrist time on the weekends and more casual after work occasions.

Pros:

1) Excellent fit, finish and quality.
2) Very unique 24 hour dial.
3) Better then average lume. Especially if you charge it up.

Cons:
1) Two Nato straps.  I would have preferred one strap (black) and a bracelet.
2) Weird date window that I found very hard to read.
3) Takes a little getting used to in order to read the military time.

Great review. I was the guy in the store that stopped. What a surprise to see a Lum-Tec in the wild. I have the last custom watch made by the owner of Lum-Tec before he switched fully to his personal brand. That watch is very special to me and I can tell you that quality should never be a problem. Outstanding stuff.
Well, now I am a member here so thanks for the rare sighting, the friendly watch chat, the info about this site and the wonderful review.

Excellent om depth review! I would prefer to see this watch come with a bracelet instead of a NATO strap and a Swiss Auto or Mechanical movement..But the watch itself looks very cool indeed!
