Hey freeks,
Just wanted to show my latest find, a 1969 Bulova Sea King Mechanical wind up watch.

I saw it on Fleabay. and i snagged it for a decent price. It has a real neat red grey color combo you dont see often, especially in the 1960s. And Its working fine, no real need at the moment for a full tear down and rebuild.

I got it roughly 3 days ago. Since then i got a new zulu strap for it. I removed the movement, refinished the hands with a red stripes down their middles, to match the red indices on the dial . And i re lumed both hands. I touched up the case a little, got rid of some of the scratching on the steel. Re lubed the gaskets, and re assembled .
I think it looks real nice, very aggressive for a 1960s watch. I love the little tiny white whale at the bottom of the dial.
Thanks for looking

Your whale makes mine look like a shrimp in comparison.

That is too cool.
I love the old Bulova (and Caravelle) watches, especially the divers.

Great find and nice work on the resto-mod.

Nice job. I have a spot in my heart for some of these older, vintage watches. I only own a couple of them....but they are certainly worth restoring and preserving. Well done!

Wow nice job bro. I love the look of that watch. I've been getting more interested in the vintage pieces for about a year. Pocket watches or wrist watches. Thank God I'm off of that 50+ case dim kick. Really nice work and a piece you should be proud of.

Here's the information I recorded in my database:

Bulova Sea King-All original, 17 jewel cal. 11BLACD rotor type automatic. W/ brown lizard Alpha Omega strap. Also Girard included the original Bulova brown lizard embossed strap. Made in 1969. Paid $137.00. From Girards.

Sorry Rod for the late reply. :whatever:

Very smooth and accurate. Figured I got a good price, especially for the original band being included when I had them add a longer replacement. The original was just too short.
