Folks trying to find a replacement battery for my Marathon watch that was issued to me during the Desert Storm. Having a hard time getting a picture to post so I will describe as best I can. Marathon lettering top of face dial. H3 lettering between the numeral nine and the hands stem. No date window. Outer bezel rotates and is numbered 1 thru 11 and the 12 numeral position is a triangle with a luminescent dot. The numerals have corresponding tritium bars adjacent to them. I believe the USAF categorized it a "Navigator's watch". On the back it is stamped Gallet and Company with June 1990 below plus what looks like contract number and NSN or National Stock Number which are no longer legible. Tritium no longer glows but the watch was very rugged, comfortableand kept excellent time. E-mailed Marathon Watch Company for the battery info but never got a response. Appreciate any assistance/guidance figuring this out. new guy so if this post is noy in accordance with I apologize in advance. Thanx in advance. Respectfully

Hello and Welcome.

Unfortutately I can not tell you what battery it uses, but Im sure if you take it to a jeweler or watchmaker they can take the back off and be able to tell you and replace it for you.

Roger, thank U for the recommendation. Was thinking of doing that but was concerned about proper voltage issues. If we get it figured out will post correct battery details. Thanx Again

Open it up and look. It shouldn't be too difficult.

Here is a good link for you: http://www.horologycrazy.com/2012/02...ry-change.html

If we knew the exact movement they used in that watch, it would be easy to know what battery it uses.

Im just not sure what movement they used back in the 90's.

I know you said you emailed Marathon...maybe post on their FB page as well.

Forgive me if this sounds too obvious, but I'm assuming the old battery might still be in place?

Too easy to have them read the old battery for a replacement. Any jeweler/watch repair place will do that, and they probably will have the appropriate battery for its quartz mvmt on hand.

Based on what I have read...Replacement battery is either the low drain 395/SR927SW/V395/SR57 cell or the high drain 399/SR927W/V399/SR57 cell, the high drain cell is supposed to last longer. Both are Silver Oxide 1.55V 9.5x2.6mm cells.

Thanx all for the suggestions and recommendations. I will take the watch to a reputable local watch shop and talk to the boss man and see if the 395 or 399 batteries will work. Thank you for the help all!! Respectfully
