I like it, but he'll have to wait until my Makara's show up before I tackle another pre order.

The drama with Jim Skelton was before my watch hobby time so I'm emotionally neutral on the whole thing. Although I did Google.

My thoughts...I actually like the design and am more attracted to it because Android is manufacturing it.

But with that said. It's too big for my wrist at 46mm. And the brand is a little cheezy to me mostly because when I hear the name Strider, I think of the old 80s arcade video game.

Strider is also the name of a high end knife brand.

Wow another knife brand right in my own backyard. Buck used to be here, and Anza Knives still are. They look like pretty nice pieces Don. Thanks for the info.

Well, at the end of the day, for me . . .

I too missed out on all the Skeltons in the closet, so I have no axe to grind in that area.

I must admit, I don't like the face or bezel markings. Just a matter of taste, but I do admit to liking that knife - like minute hand.

On the other hand, I love the bracelet and clasp - I'd love it more if it didn't look so Boschett - like and had more to set it apart.

Give me a Cave Dweller or Harpoon any day.

My objective opinion only - YMMV.

Wrist shot posted today of the prototype. As mentioned earlier in the thread there are some changes that will be made to the final watch that is available for purchase.

This is what I think it needs:

- the dial needs to be a glossy finish. The texture doesn't go with the refined looking hands and markers.

- the font style on the dial looks mixed. The info at 6 should be revised to match better with the brand font at 12.

- the second hand is too thin and it seems to get lost in the dial. A more substantial second hand should be used. In addition, it would be nice to have lume on it. Red lume would be okay if that is the look that he is going for.

- the hour markers are a bit much. If the 1/4 hour markers remained and the others were more standard (rectangle or square), it would less busy and more clean.

- the 6 o'clock marker is WAY too long...

- The dots on the LHS of the "S" logo are distracting and add no real value. They should be removed.

- the date window should not be round, it doesn't flow with the design. It should be sqare on the inside and flow into the hour marker shape on the other.

- the divers scale on the bezel is way too busy. The 0 - 15 can remain the same, but the remainder needs to be updated to hashes or just less marks. IMO, it makes the watch look cheap and an update would make the watch more refined looking.

- the polished crown looks out of place. it should have a brushed finish on the grips and then it could have a polished end. Again, it would flow with the case design and look more refined.

- The bezel needs to be refined a little. Maybe more pronouced/refined grips or mix in a polished highlight or beveled edge where the grips curve towards the dial.

Other than that, it seems to be a decent watch for the price. Perhaps a value...for whoever wants to preorder it.

Crown will be brushed in production.
Hands will be covered I fully in lume.
Some other minute changes.

Dial texture will stay same , bezel will stay same.

Good on the crown, that is a good move...texture doesn't work IMO...bezel design is fairly weak looking IMO, especially the horrible markings.

The second hand really stinks though...lume or not.

I can appreciate that they are trying to do something different. But taste being what it is, it just doesn't work for me overall . . .

Being a diver myself (although a bit rusty), I like the bezels on my diver's watches to be marked every five minutes, with single minute marks for at least 0-15. I just feel it's more functional.

I can't get behind that "Morse code" bezel.

I'm so-so on the hour indices, but I kinda like the sandwich dial effect.

As I said a little earlier, I like the hands, PROVIDED those "knife-edges" are lumed. And the second hand should have a lume pip as well.

Agree with many others here though that if it were mine, that "S" has GOT to go.

+1. This is a good and constructive post (unlike some others). I agree with just about all of your thoughts. I would actually like to see what this watch would look like with many/some of your suggestions incorporated or tried.

I am constantly amazed by some of the people who do not post anywhere on the site (or barely/rarely) but then choose to only chime in when they can put down something or criticize. You don't have to like anything and of course each person can like or dislike whatever they want and post those feelings. But to do it over and over and over and over again, in the same thread, without adding anything constructive, is amazingly boring. JMHO.
