From Facebook -

This is a prototype, and some changes are already planned. One major change is that the hands will be changed out to FULL lume fill hands. My fancier hand design did not allow for enough Superluminova to be applied. But this is very close to what will be delivered as the final product. I hope you like.

I kind of disagree.

First off, its a dive watch. Most dive watches share the same basic principals, like a rotating bezel, lumed hands and markers, screw down crown, etc, etc.

From high end to boutique brands thats mostly the same.

At this point...how much can you do to dive watch to make it different. Some companies really try and push it and go outside the box and people slam them for it, saying its too busy, to unconventional etc.

I will agree and say, yeah, its a dive watch. Many similarities to others. lumed bezel, sandwich markers(although thats not seen on most dive watches), black or grey dial, screw down crown, multi link bracelet.

But, you have to remember the market. While for some of us, its just another dive watch, for some this might their first dive watch, or the one that looks a little different enough for them to jump on it.

Spec wise and price are right in line with Magrette and some other brands, and cheaper than many others using same movement these days. Basically $200 less than the Tempest diver just released and almost $200 less than the 2nd edition Boschett Harpoon, all using the Miyota 9015 movement.

It is what it is, and of course we can all speak with our wallets.

Saying it's hand built in America, turns me off.

From his Facebook page...he DOES NOT claim made in America.

They will be manufactured in China and assembled in tested in Florida, basically same thing that Lum-tec does.

Sorry, corrected my post, the OP says Hand Built in America.

PS: don't own a Lum-Tec, what do they claim?

Lumtec are machined in china and they are assembled in their workshop in Mentor, Ohio.

Anyone can stop by and see the workshop if the want as many have done , and many pics over the years have been posted of their workshop and them assembling watches.
All their watches are assembled , tested, regulated and shipped from Ohio,

Thanks, looked it up and Lum-Tec is doing it right, shout out to them:

I looked at the specs again when another post said he would not buy because it was too big for him. It is 46mm and I prefer a 44mm for a dive watch. I think NFW is spot on their size choice for their Shumate. The older I get the bigger watches are uncomfortable for me. I really think that some 10 years from now are going to regret buying some of their bigger watches. I know I have.

Interesting concept and design. Not really my thing but it's great to see some innovation.

By this, it's a 249 dollar max watch

The movement is not cheapo, so parts are ....???

Anyway, fun discussion. No way buying at this price. Sure to be discounted
Given the nature of things on the forum.

Were there any lume shots? Wanted to see dial and bezel. Like the strap adjustment, but even now these are mass produced in China for certain
Non approved look alike... Genuine fakes and I have to to say having seen
The product, it is pretty darn good. So this watch may in fact be a nice one. Will wait for the review. I'll keep an open mind on this. Thanks for the thread.

I would agree. I am getting tired of divers. They all look alike nowadays. The couple that caught my eye are too big, too expensive for a Miyota in it.
If it wasn't for NFW, Lum-Tec and one or two more, they would definitely all look the same. And I can't even think of the one or two more, in my price range, at least.
He'll sell them to his fan boys anyway.

TVDinner 09-29-2013 08:20 PM

I agree there is a ton if copying in the dive watch world today but without saying I like this one or don't like it - it seems to have a lot of original elements to it from the initial pictures we have seen.

Balad1 09-29-2013 08:48 PM

Where do I send full payment?

That way I'll have a Dive Watch triple header when it, my Olivier and Stolas arrive.

:)
