We are excited to bring you the Mako USA, the newest version of our popular Mako diver. It’s been slightly redesigned with feedback from the watch community in mind. It now includes:
- a sapphire crystal
- solid endlinks
- drilled lug holes
- 120-click bezel.
- The dial also glows more bright with Nemoto LumiNova®, a top-of-the-line lume pigment.
The Mako USA is now available for presale in Jet Black, Stark White, and Royal Blue, and is expected to ship July 1, 2015. Only available here at orientwatchusa.com!
Sapphire crystal now! Man, the white dial is calling my name.
Wow I love these! Wish it was a quartz watch though. Will you guys ship these to Canada? Are these the same movements as before or do they have hand-winding and hacking as well?
Looks like Long Island Watch signed a deal with Orient. They are now the exclusive distributor of the Mako USA watch now. Pre-order pricing in effect for $159 for black models and $169 for the blue and white models. Pricing is only good until February 22nd.

Long Island Ships worldwide. Read post last night. Ordered 10 minutes later. White dial. $169.00
Never owned an Orient, know little about them except what I read here.
For this price, well, can't go wrong(?) I'll soon find out!
I like Orient and have the Ray which gets a lot of wrist time. From what I understand the auto-wind mechanism has less moving parts than other brands. If fact I find the Ray winds more easily than my Seiko 009.
I ordered 2 Japanese Makos from Massdrop. They were very cheap, under 100bucks. But slow in coming. I got 2 blue/red bezel with rubber straps. Have to say these USA Makos look great and Island watch is a pleasure to do business with
I've visited the link and briefly browsed through the comments. A deviation of one second a WEEK with the Orient movement versus 5 to 7 seven seconds a WEEK for Swiss movements? While the COSC standard is -4/+6 seconds a DAY. Even if day/week were mixed up this is baloney And if not, Orient must have gold in their hands with a $30 movement that beats even the Kew Observatory Chronometer standard!
Just to be clear, they are owned by Seiko Epson parent company, as is Seiko watch company. They are not a Seiko watch subsidiary, but rather more like an independent sister company, both owned by the same parent.
You are so right, I fell for that obvious trap myself. There's a big difference between being taken over by another brand or being bought by the owner of that other brand. All those brands that are now part of the Swatch Group for instance still operate mainly autonomous and kept their identity. Like Orient.
Yes, there's link in this thread. US$ 179 and 199. You're one day late, yesterday they were 159 for the black version and 169 for the other colours. Only the black ones are still in stock. The list price is 225.
Wow, wish I had got mine already, really love the blue one
